5 Earth Day Date Ideas

On April 22nd the world celebrates Earth Day, a day which serves as a reminder that our planet-and its resources-are precious. If you have a date on April 22nd, why not make it an eco-conscious one? Here are 5 ways that you can commemorate Mother Earth and make your date eco-friendly:

Visit a botanical garden or an ecological museum or zoo. What better way to celebrate the planet than to visit a place where you can admire some of our planet's beautiful flora and fauna? Botanical gardens, zoos and ecological museums are great places to visit for any type of date, especially if you and your date love plants and animals-and who doesn’t?

Vegetarian or Vegan Restaurant.  Earth Day is a great day to go vegetarian or vegan. Meat consumption, as we all know, takes a large toll on the environment. If you can skip out on eating meat for at least one day, and go for a delicious vegetable-based dinner it will help the environment and your health.

An outdoor hike, or picnic in the park.  A classic and wonderful way to take in the outdoors, and get some exercise.  A picnic is always a romantic date. Go for both if you want the date to run a bit longer. Remember to keep the picnic foods vegetarian or vegan!

Go for a bike ride. Biking is a fun, cheap and eco-friendly mode of transportation and a great way to explore the outdoors. You don't have the chance to talk a lot while you bike, but you will have a lot to talk about afterwards.

Go kayaking, or canoeing. If weather permits (it is warm enough) find the nearest lake, ocean or bay, etc and rent a canoe or kayak. It’s a great way to get out and enjoy our lakes and other water-ways and take in the natural wonders. If it’s winter and the lakes are frozen over, opt for a skating or snowshoeing date.
