Caitlyn Jenner has become a public image in the best way possible, using celebrity status to make a difference. Further to that, hers has become the voice to listen to–one that has been heard as she’s paved the way for transgender people to embrace the real person within their own skin. MAC is no stranger to launching collaborations with celebrities and has always had a philanthropic side. It made sense, then, that MAC and Caitlyn Jenner would team up and make a big statement with the sales.
MAC Caitlyn Jenner is launching exclusively online this April, the brand will debut the MAC Lipstick, Finally Free, which “champions all ages, all races and all sexes.” But the message doesn’t stop there: 100 per cent of the proceeds will go to the MAC Aids Fund Transgender Initiative, to further the brand’s work to support transgender communities.
So, what do we think about the lipstick? While some of the collaborations have been a little out-there in terms of day-to-day wearability, Finally Free looks like a gorgeous, universally flattering shade that could easily be added to your regular rotation. According to the interview MAC did with Caitlyn, this was very intentional, stating, “I wanted a lipstick that would be universal, suited to more people, and was an everyday lipstick, not just a high-glam, once-in-a-while kind of lipstick. I like a little colour on my lips, not a lot during the day. And this rosy nude is the colour I’ve gone to. To be honest, I want people to use it every day so they have to buy more. I want to raise a lot of money. It’s very simple.”
We don’t think that Caitlyn Jenner will have any issues selling lots of Finally Free, because if we know one thing, it’s that MAC devotees love a good collaboration and it wouldn’t be the first time a collection has sold out online.
MAC Caitlyn Jenner Lipstick in Finally Free will sell for $21 and will be available this April exclusively online at MACCosmetics.com
