Finally, film and fashion have merged as H&M launches its The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo collection.
The store’s first-ever film collaboration is hitting clothing racks on December 14. The collection echoes the style of the story’s unhinged anti-hero Lisbeth Salander (played by Rooney Mara.) From maroon torn sweaters to grey hoods, each piece masters the dark-and-dreary effect (while still proving to be stylish.) The line plays with ashy colours like black and grey, and faded whites and red.
H&M requested the film’s costume designer, Trish Summerville, to design the collection.
Salander’s look is very real and very lived in, with pieces that her character has worn for a long time, like her jackets that act as her armour to shield her from the world, Summerville said in a statement. I wanted the collection to have the essence and strength of Salander, with a fashion edge.
The collection made its debut on November 28 at a small boutique in Paris, before launching worldwide.
After the Versace for H&M collaboration and Marni collection to follow, it’s obvious high-fashion will continue to land on the brand’s sought-after shelves (in the past, they’ve teamed up with Karl Lagerfeld, Roberto Cavalli, Jimmy Choo, Lanvin and more.)
