Whoever said “Hell Hath No Fury Like a Woman Scorned” forgot about that of a woman fired.
Nicolette Sheridan, whose character Edie Britt was killed off the show Desperate Housewives last year, is suing the show’s creator Marc Cherry for $20 million. According to the lawsuit, Sheridan is citing wrongful termination, assault and gender violence.
Apparently, Cherry created a “hostile work environment”, and even hit Sheridan on one occasion. She alleges that in 2008, Cherry hit her over the head during a dispute regarding the script. The lawsuit also states that fellow Housewife Teri Hatcher was indirectly on the receiving end of Cherry’s wrath after an issue with ABC executives. The report claims he told Sheridan, “I hope Teri Hatcher gets hit by a car and dies”.
Marc Cherry’s folks have yet to comment at the time of print, but ABC has been quick off the mark, issuing the following statement:
“While we have yet to see the actual complaint, we investigated similar claims made by Ms. Sheridan last year and found them to be without merit.”
Hmm. Either somebody’s bitter about being fired, or somebody’s a slave-driving producer good at covering his tracks. Either way, it sounds like things just took a very ugly turn down Wysteria Lane.
Who do you believe?
