Well, they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, so that might explain why Lady Gaga is channeling Donatella Versace for her Versace campaign.
Shot in London by photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, the singer boasts the designer's trademark long, blonde hair in the soon-to-be-very-much-talked-about campaign, Lady Gaga for Versace, or #VesaceLovesGaga.
"I am honoured that my friend Lady Gaga is the face of our new Versace campaign," said Donatella. "I wanted to capture her true beauty and spirit in images that are elegant and alluring. She is like family to me, the embodiment of the Versace DNA."
(Which explains why Lady Gaga looks so much like Donatella Versace, maybe.)
Nothing was confirmed about anything until the campaign was actually released, according to Vogue UK — aside from the photographers and the location. Gaga also has a song on her album, Artpop, called "Donatella" which is a "love letter" to the designer, so we can only hope it's only a matter of time before Donatella gets photographed dressed like Gaga. Or with R. Kelly. Or learning the "Telephone" dance. Listen, these are just things we deserve.
