Only days after her ex-hubby Nick Lachey announced his engagement, Jessica was spotted on Saturday showing off her new bling while promoting her clothing line at Diliard’s in Kansas City ” yup, that’s right. She’s engaged to former NFL player Eric Johnson. The fabulous ring is a three-stone band with a central ruby surrounded by two diamonds”expensive!
Simpson and Lachey divorced in 2005 after only three years of marriage but she wished him only good things when he announced his engagement to Vanessa Minnillo. So now the question that I know you’re all begging to ask, was this coincidental or was Jess trying to outdo Mr. Lachey?
It can seem that way to many since the relationship is fairly new for these two lovebirds. After only being together since May and have been seen canoodling all across the US and Europe”spending Jessica’s 30th birthday in Italy together.
When asked if Johnson was the one at a prior interview she answered, “I never go to that because I already went there, so, I’m not gonna jinx myself. He’s the one for me right now! I’m very happy, I’m in a great place and if right now could last forever, I’d take it.”
Simpson also when onto to tell PEOPLE about Johnson, This is just normal, thank God. He’s very, very supportive. I couldn’t ask for a better man in my life right now.
There have been a mix of emotions on the engagement front and some people believe Johnson may be riding on Jess’s coattails”he didn’t have much luck in the football department. Jess’s family on the other hand her family seems to like the idea. Her brother-in-law Pete Wentz (Ashlee’s hubby) told PEOPLE how he felt about Johnson: “He’s a really smart guy, and Jessica really loves him. I think that’s the most important thing, seeing her happy,”
