Eva Mendes will soon be adding fashion designer to her resume. The actress has signed a deal with New York & Co. to launch her own clothing line called Eva by Eva Mendes. She will also be the new face of New York & Co.
In this day and age where everybody has a stylist, I appreciate the kind of woman who steps out of the box. I love feeling like an individual. I want to share these little tips with women, Mendes said of her new venture. I have a ton of ideas, but it’s a bit early to discuss them. [The project] is taking up all my time, but in the best way possible.
The company will be using this new partnership to expand their brand, which generally consists of jeans and casual wear, by adding pieces like day-to-evening, cocktail and evening wear. These new categories have made good use of Mendes’ expertise in getting glammed up for a red carpet event.
We want her influence in the collection. She has amazing red carpet style and also has a very unique style off the red carpet, NY&Co.’s CEO, Greg Scott, said. She has a real sense of self, which will help us in terms of the design aesthetic. When we look at her, she really is confident.
Mendes is going to be very hands-on in the design process, admitting that she brought in half her closet to a recent meeting with the fashion company.
