Recent academy-award winner Christoph Waltz is set to make his directorial debut with a romantic comedy. The movie, co-written by Waltz is based on the German novel Auf und Davon.
The film chronicles a woman playing a dating game show who falls for one of the contestants. It courts the numerous emotions and delicacies involved in the process, but as Waltz is quick to point out, When you make feelings a commodity, it’s not a feeling anymore.
But if you’re a Waltz fan, like myself, there’s a more important issue at hand¦will the new director star in it?
We haven’t decided yet, says Waltz. I think it will be physically hard to be on both sides of the camera.
Hey, if Tarantino can do it¦
Though it will be a German-language film, there are internet rumblings that Fox Searchlight will bring the film to at least the U.S., if not Canada.
But with Waltz’s recent commitment to star in the film adaptation of Water For Elephants, it’s thought filming could start as late as 2011. I hope it starts sooner rather than later, because if he’s able to earn universal acclaim in front of the camera as Col. Hans Landa, imagine what magic he can work from behind.
