Alright, everyone who doesn't like Jennifer Lawrence: scram. Get out of here. We don't have time for that negativity on this, the site that doesn't like negativity. And we say that because at the world premiere of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, the artist-everyone-knows-as-J-Law dropped some truth bombs about role models and body images.
"Growing up, I didn't have a female hero the way Katniss is," she said on the red carpet. "I think she's a wonderful role model for young girls. I'm happy that they have a character like that."
That said, she admitted she has not been asked to lose weight for a role, and has instead talked about unrealistic industry images and the importance of looking strong and healthy.
"We have the ability to control this image that young girls are going to be seeing," she told Newsnight.
Case in point: the sexualization of women and girls in the entertainment business.
"It's definitely something that is a part of the entertainment industry — sex sells — and for some disgusting reason young sex sells even more," she said. "It's not something I worry about because I feel like everybody has their own path and they have their own way of finding themselves and for some people that's how they feel best, that's how they feel sexy, and that's how they want to perform. To each their own."
Honestly, though, YES. Exactly. (Miley Cyrus haters, we're looking at you.) In the words of Drake, "You do you." And Jennifer Lawrence, if you're reading this, let's hang out because I think we could really be best friends.
