Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth Engaged!

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are tying the knot! Hemsworth, 22, proposed to Cyrus, 19, on May 31st after three years of dating.

I’m so happy to be engaged and look forward to a life of happiness with Liam, Cyrus said in a statement.

Hemsworth reportedly gave Cyrus a 3.5 karat diamond ring from Neil Lane with a cushion-cut diamond in a yellow gold setting.

Life is beautiful, Cyrus gushed on Twitter earlier today.

Let’s address the tiny pink elephant in the room — these two are very, very young. So young that Cyrus, still technically a teenager, can’t legally buy herself a drink in the US. I suspect that this young couple will have to go on to defend their age to many, many people while planning their nuptials. But when it comes to Hollywood marriages, it seems the usual social conventions don’t hold any significance. I am definitely curious to hear what Billy Ray has to say about all this (because you know he’ll have quite a bit to say).

Cyrus and Hemsworth first met on set of their movie The Last Song in 2009. They have been dating ever since, with a brief breakup in 2010.
