If you are a busy girl (and who isn’t) you may realize one day that your social life isn’t what it used to be. Between working, commuting, going to the gym, running errands and attending to life in general, somewhere along the way your social life took a back burner. Now your idea of a social evening is you and TiVo, with maybe some Chinese takeout. And no, you may not count biweekly conversations with Mom as part of your social life. So, what’s a busy girl to do? Just follow the simple steps below for improving your social life in no time!
Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and other on-line tools are all great ways for improving your social life without spending a lot of time prepping. All you have to do is log on and type a few words “ the perfect way to socialize for a busy girl. Social media is great for improving your social life when you are pressed for time. You can join interest groups or have your friends suggest other friends to expand your social circle. If you’re single, on-line dating can be a great way for a busy girl to meet guys, and gives you a chance to weed out guys that aren’t a good match without even having to get your nails done!
Joining a different gym is great for improving your social life “ meet a whole new group of people without even changing your workout! You never know what friends you may make in a new aerobics class. Yes, you’re a busy girl, but you still need to make time to work out. And even if your workout consists of putting on your iPod and doing three miles on a treadmill, you may still strike up a conversation with potential friends while lacing up your sneakers. Also try signing up for squash, handball or tennis games; often people are looking for partners or opponents, allowing a busy girl to get in a good workout while improving her social life!
Work the working life
Work is another great place for a busy girl interested in improving her social life. There are probably lots of people you would like to get to know better at work. Try picking a handful and asking them to have lunch with you. This is a great way to make new friends and make it work with your busy schedule. It won’t hurt you to not eat lunch at your desk a few days a month!
Be a friend
Have you been so busy you’ve begun to forget birthdays, anniversaries, and other special days? Remember, like your mother said, the best way to have a friend is to be one. Try improving your social life by maintaining the ones you have (or used to have.) Take a few hours one Saturday or weekday night to record the special days of everyone you know and love. Create recurring appointments on your iPhone, and for really important days have a reminder pop up a few days ahead, so you have time to buy that gift or card. A really busy girl knows she has to plan ahead, as last minute scrambles can waste time.
And remember it’s quality, not quantity, that counts. It’s better to have three or four good friends than twenty superficial ones “ you’re improving, not just increasing, your social life.
