Curly hair never ceases to attract attention, but are you getting the right kind? It’s tough to manage your locks”they’re luscious, but if only they could lose their frizz. With summer humidity beating down on curly-haired maidens, it becomes increasingly difficult to find a way to show off your hair and remember why you love it so much.
Curls favour a long, layered cut, treated with shampoos and leave-in conditioners meant for curly hair. But if that doesn’t work out, there are ways of styling your hair in a jiffy so you can walk into work looking good. Check out these quick curly hairdos.
Add moisture + hair band
Sometimes all your hair is asking for is a bit of moisture. Apply your favourite curly hair cream to the frizziest strands and scrunch your hair together, then release. Now your curls can tumble frizz-free. Accentuate the look with a hair band, but be careful not to flatten the top curls.
Half ponytail
If your front curls are having a bad day, pull them back with a barrette, leaving the rest of your hair down. If this style reveals not-so-happy hair in the back, apply a light layer of your favourite curly hair cream to individual strands of hair, which will define curls and reduce frizz.
High ponytail
Curly hair and ponytails have a controversial history; it’s tough to compete with the smooth look of straight hair pulled back by a simple hair elastic. The trick with curly hair is to create a high ponytail. You’ve got to be willing to go all out with this look and truly flaunt your locks. A high ponytail allows your curls to fall in their natural fashion, giving them the freedom they need and the sexy look you’ve been hoping for.
If you have a lot of hair and your ponytail is starting to feel heavy, take a few locks from the sides and wrap them around your hair elastic, lightening the load and creating a more elegant wrap. (This also creates the illusion that you have less hair, if that’s what you’re going for.)
Bun
Desperate times call for¦buns. There’s nothing simpler than sweeping your hair back and wrapping it in a hair elastic. To avoid the strict-teacher look, let loose a few of your curly locks in the back. A higher bun perched between the back and top of your head adds an air of elegance.
Lustrous locks look good and feel great!
