Darren Star’s comedy-drama Emily in Paris has officially announced its return and eyeing a summer abroad (Think Roman Holiday).
The long-awaited fourth season of Netflix’s Emily in Paris will unspool over two parts, with the first five episodes premiering on Thursday, August 15, 2024 followed by five more installments that will be released on Thursday, September 12, 2004. The news was confirmed by the streamer alongside a behind-the-scenes image from the filming of season 4 (above), as well as a video announcement in which the cast describe the upcoming new season in a few words (Chaotic! Revenge! Heartbreaking!).
In the video, while Emily (Lily Collins) opts for the words “vulnerable” and “adventurous”, Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) chooses “chaotic” and “heartbreaking” and Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) says the season “sums up to one word: revenge”.
Where did we leave off?
As you might recall — it has been a year and a half since Season 3 dropped — Camille confronted Gabriel about his feelings for Emily in the middle of their wedding in the December 2022 finale of Emily in Paris. Emily’s beau, Alfie, also didn’t want to be someone’s second choice and told Emily to go get her man. But as Emily and Gabriel finally had a moment to talk, he dropped a bombshell on her: Cami is pregnant.
What to expect from season 4?
In Season 4, “after the dramatic events of Camille and Gabriel’s misbegotten wedding, Emily is reeling: She has strong feelings for two men, but now Gabriel’s expecting a baby with his ex, and Alfie’s worst fears about her and Gabriel have been confirmed,” the official synopsis reads. Plus, “Emily and Gabriel’s chemistry is undeniable as they work together towards a Michelin star, but two big secrets threaten to undo everything they’ve dreamed of.”
“At work, Sylvie is forced to confront a thorny dilemma from her past for the sake of her marriage, and the Agence Grateau team navigates personnel shakeups,” the description continues. “Mindy and the band prepare for Eurovision, but when funds run dry, they’re forced to get thrifty.”
And, finally… should we expect Emily to take off on a little Roman holiday? Yes, as per reports by Variety, the filming kicked off in the mid of January with “five months in Paris and will also shoot in Italy, according to the film commission Mission Cinema.”
