After starring in the blockbuster hit Bridesmaids and her recent Emmy wins, Melissa McCarthy is basking in her success and making the most of it. The 41-year-old actress recently announced to The Hollywood Reporter that she will be launching a fashion line for plus-sized women.
“Trying to find stuff that’s still fashion-forward in my size is damn near impossible, McCarthy said. It’s either for like a 98-year-old woman or a 14-year-old hooker, and there is nothing in the middle.
McCarthy got her first taste of fashion designing when she worked closely with Daniella Pearl to design the dress she wore to the Emmys. McCarthy will be working with Pearl again on the new fashion line.
In addition to the fashion line, McCarthy is about to launch a new production company with her husband, Ben Falcone.
To have the opportunity to start developing and being on the creating side of stuff, for me, is one of the most amazing and exciting things that’s happened. I’ve been writing for 15 years, and now, suddenly, people are like, ˜Oh, what’s in that drawer?’ It’s like, ˜Well, I’ll show what’s in the drawer.’
