Considering we saw the likes of Jessica Chastain, Kate Middleton and Blake Lively cement themselves as some of the year’s biggest fashion heavyweights, it’s Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen that have taken the title.
Named Vogue‘s best-dressed ladies of 2011, the actresses-turned-fashion designers were cited as the most stylish sisters – a move you can kind of expect since the past (nearly) 52 weeks have seen some serious sibling power thanks to the likes of Solange Knowles and Elle FanOf ning.
In a surprise move, the magazine opted to pay tribute to the industry’s most fashionable sisters, naming the Middleton ladies at number 9, Dakota and Elle Fanning at number 2, Beyonce and Solange at number 7 and Kate and Rooney Mara rounding the list out at number 10.
Of course, the issue couldn’t have come out at a better time: nearly all their list-makers have made the headlines this week, with Dakota’s recent commercial for Marc Jacobs’ Lola perfume getting banned from TV, and Kate Middleton getting her tour on alongside Prince William.
But the real question of the hour is: what about Elizabeth? Having eclipsed most up-and-coming fashionistas following her recent film tours on the other-half of the year, the younger Olsen twin has proven herself a worthy adversary in terms of both films and style – or at least that’s what her appearance on the Martha Marcy May Marlene red carpets would imply.
Unless she’s already a shoe-in for best dressed in 2012.
