Lauren Conrad has become quite the beauty icon, but it took her a while to get there. She’s started her own beauty website, thebeautydepartment.com, to share the know-how she’s gleaned over the years.
Growing up, I never really learned how to do my hair and makeup correctly and the results weren’t always great, Conrad said in a release. Our goal with The Beauty Department is to provide girls and young women with a basic how-to of simplified versions of popular trends and styles they can recreate themselves.
Conrad co-founded the website with the help of her longtime hairstylist Kristin Ess and her makeup artist Amy Nadine.
Thebeautydepartment.com promises the basics of hair and makeup as well as health-related beauty topics. Readers can also submit questions that the creators will try to answer.
The first post sets the tone for the site’s goals:
This is a site for anyone who’s ever had a beauty question or gotten into a fight with a hair brush and lost, says the post. We’ll be covering all kinds of hair+makeup how-to’s, nail trends, skin issues, tools, current obsessions & inspirations, as well as countless quick tips.
The three have already posted stellar guides to ombre nails and vintage curls, in addition to a birthday shout-out to Kate Hudson.
