At only 21-years-old, Emma Watson’s come into her own as a bona fide style superstar. But according to an interview with Elle UK, the actress admits that she feels a certain amount of pressure to look “good”.
As a result, she says Los Angeles is “quite scary” because of “all those young people having plastic surgery”, though she’s still relatively comfortable in her own skin: “I don’t have perfect teeth, I’m not stick thin. I want to be the person who feels great in her body and can say that she loves it and doesn’t want to change anything.”
And thank goodness. An academic – and a talented thespian – Ms. Watson has already grown tired of how women are expected to look in Hollywood, and falls in-step with talent like fellow Brit Kate Winslet who has been very open about her disinterest in plastic surgery in the past.
“It’s ridiculous that [loving the way you look] seems like such an unrealistic goal,” Emma told Elle. “I think the actresses who are really successful are the ones who are comfortable in their own skin and still look human.”
So here’s hoping that she keeps up her mantra as her years in Hollywood progress. After all, we’ve got more than enough wannabe actresses speckling the Hollywood landscape, so when it comes to young talent, let’s hope they’ve finally gotten tired of the plastic surgery regimen.
