Do you like American Idol enough to wear it? Well you officially have the opportunity thanks to the show’s collaboration with Tommy Hilfiger.
American Idol has just recruited Tommy Hilfiger as their “image advisor,” and plans to launch a clothing line with chain store, Kohl’s.
Set to be designed and produced by MESH (an off-shoot of LF USA that was co-founded by Tommy Hilfiger), the American Idol think-tanks hope to capitalize on the show’s popularity, with David Luner, executive producer of consumer products and Interactive FreemantleMedia Enterprises, saying that the collaboration “was a natural extension to partner on a line of American Idol-inspired apparel that captures the essence of our rich music, style and performance heritage.”
According to Vogue UK, the American Idol collection will include pieces like striped skinny jeans, graphic t-shirts and “Op-Art hot pants” all with “an American feel and rock ‘n roll edge.” (And as long as there aren’t any highlight extensions inspired by Kelly Clarkson in season one, we should all be fine.)
The line will be made available in American Kohl’s stores and online in June.
