Skin Care 101: How to Master a Faux Glow

When you don’t want your skin to shrivel up in the sun, but still wish to achieve a bronzed complexion, self-tanning is a safe solution. However, attaining a glowing countenance is tricky. Avoid a tanning faux pas with our tips on how to apply fake tan to your face.

1. Scrub, Scrub, Scrub¨
Scrub before you stain. Exfoliate the night before to prime your face for self-tanner. This will rid dead skin cells and reveal the tan-ready skin beneath. Applying fake tan to dry skin will only look splotchy and uneven.

Try: Benefit Honey, Snap Out of It Scrub for an exfoliator that masters the balance between roughness and comfort.

2. Maintain the Moisture
Healthy skin will help simplify any beauty regimen ” the less amount of product, the better! The same applies when self-tanning. In order to properly apply fake tan to your face, it’s important to keep your skin in good condition. Moisturize your face the night before to keep it hydrated. Parched skin won’t respond well to self-tanning products.

Try: Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief for a moisturizer that will hydrate the skin without clogging pores.

3. Put a Glove on It
When worrying about how to apply fake tan to your face, the last thing on our mind is our hands. So what if a little product gets on our palms, right? Wrong. ¨Orange-tinted hands will never become a beauty statement. To avoid this beauty blunder, wear latex gloves when applying. If you don’t, you’ll be itching to don gloves until your hands return back to their natural hue.

Try: St. Tropez Tan Applicator Mitt for a soft, re-usable glove that promises a streak-free tan.

4. The Art of Applying
After careful prep work, there’s nothing standing in the way of achieving a flawless tan. When applying the self-tanner, don’t overdo it. You should work with small amounts and avoid the eye area. Just think of the product as a normal moisturizer or foundation, and apply a thin layer onto the face. Then blend outwards to assure the product is evenly distributed and well-absorbed.

Try: St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse for an unscented, streak-free and golden tan. Just don’t forget the mitt!

yep laying out in the sun or a tannnig bed is natural lmao . I guess the same reason people try to say that black women want to be white because of relaxers or weaves when on most black women I see styles that I doubt most white people’s hair would hold lol lol u and I know most white folks don’t just go out and get tanned , they make a day of laying in the sun, that is not natural that is crazy! now if you are one of the white people who don’t do that then obviously I am not talking about you
