Beyonce walked onto the Grammy Awards red carpet dressed in a custom made Proenza Schouler gown with minimal makeup and a soft, wavy hairdo. She was two sides of the coin last night: A queen in lacy black accepting her Grammy Awards for Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Song. And an angel when she appeared onstage all in white while performing her rendition of gospel song “Take My Hand Precious Lord.”
Each time she was up there, whether to accept a Grammy or to deliver a performance, her hair was — and you know it — #Flawless. It worked seamlessly from one part of the night to the next, whichever dress she donned for whatever purpose. The key to her look is how effortless it was.
Here is how you can recreate it, according to Pantene Celebrity Stylist Kim Kimble:
Step 1: To achieve soft, edgy waves, start with clean hair.

Step 3: Separate hair into 2 inch sections and use a 1.5 inch tourmaline flat iron to begin creating the loose waves. Place the flat iron a few inches below the root and twist the flat iron a turn and a half before gliding the iron down the hair shaft. This adds a curl throughout the entire length of hair, while also smoothing it out and making it look effortless.
Step 4: Next, run fingers through hair to loosen up the curl and create an edgy wave. Take the flat iron and quickly run it over each section of hair again to flatten it a bit—you don’t want to make it look too flat or straight or else the wave will fall out.
