Kanye West Wants to Design for The Gap

Well there's no other way to say this than directly: Kanye West wants to design for the Gap.

"I'd like to be the Steve Jobs of the Gap," he told Style.com. "When I say Steve Jobs of the Gap, I talk to people at the Gap right now [leans into tape recorder], I'm not talking about a capsule. I'm talking about full Heidi Slimane [creative director of Saint Laurent] creative control of the Gap is what I would like to do."

And who wouldn't like that? Sure, The Telegraph has pointed out that the role of creative director has been eliminated in the company, but a) bring it back then, and b) would Kanye West not be a breath of fresh air? ESPECIALLY since the Gap has had such a focus on minimalism lately, and Yeezus for Adidas was exactly that? Once upon a time, Kanye was into over the top, but now he's aiming for pieces that are inclusive. Who wouldn't want to see what he can/would/will do for normcore?

"I think high fashion is about elitism and separation, and I am completely opposed to that," West continued. "I hate the concept of limited edition completely. I hate the concept of separatism. Elitism. Classicism. We're all equal. The only thing that's valuable is time. It's the only thing we can't get back. The only luxury is time."

PREACH. Even better? The rapper went on to say that he'd turn a big fashion house offer down, flat.

"I'm only concerned with making beautiful products available to as many people as possible," he explained. "The least I could do is spend my time trying to give other people a piece of this so-called good life. Everyone should have the good life."

Yeezus is the reason for the season, you guys. Praise him.
