Beauty Review: Clairol Nice N Easy Color Blend Foam Hair Colour

Before its even hit stores, we tried the highly anticipated Color Blend Foam from Clairol. And it totally lives up to the hype!

What it is:
Launching at the end of February 2011, Clairol’s new Color Blend Foam Hair Colour is a permanent hair colour that blends away greys. What’s unique is that the texture is a foolproof foam, instead of traditional liquid, so it’s easier to apply to the hair.

How it works:
Basically, Clairol’s Color Blend Foam starts out as two liquids (the tint and the developer), becomes a foam once the two are shaken together and then becomes a liquid again once its applied to the hair. It’s the best of both worlds: the drip-free application of a foam and the superior coverage of a liquid.

How to use it:
Before you do anything, put on the plastic gloves! Nobody looks cute with stained hands. First, start by pouring the smaller bottle of tint into the larger bottle of developer and shake until the mixture begins to foam. Next, squeeze the foam into your hand. Rub the foam into your hair, starting with your roots and working your way down to the tips of your hair. Once all of your hair is saturated, leave it on for 25 minutes. (If you have long hair, I advise putting it into a bun.) Then, rinse your hair under the shower until the water runs clear. Finally, apply the colour-sealing conditioner, leave it in for two minutes and rinse.

The good:
With Clairol’s Color Blend Foam, gone are the days of hair dye dripping down your forehead and splattered all over your bathroom counter. Although I had my doubts, the foam formula really is mess-free and easy to use! Not to mention, Clairol’s foam formula produces six times more product than liquid or cré¨me colours. If you’re a longhaired lovely like me, you won’t need to buy two boxes! Also, the Dark Brown colour that I used came out a beautiful, rich dark brown with a slightly red tone. Best of all, it covered up my atrocious roots almost seamlessly!

The not-so-good:
My only complaint about Clairol’s Color Blend Foam is the bottle design. Having to squeeze from the middle of the bottle is a bit of a pain “ especially once the product starts to get low. A push-pump dispenser would have made things way easier!

One week later:
One of my pet peeves with at-home hair colour is the way it washes out slightly within a couple of days. However, I found that one week after using Clairol’s Color Blend Foam, my colour was as vibrant as it was on day one.

Finally, a hair colour that doesn’t require me to bleach my white bath towels every time I use it!

This product is totally a failure in design and quality performance !
I bought 2 packages of 1 lighter, and 1 darker brown color to try.
After mixing it according to the instruction, the foam died down quickly within a minute.
Even I kept squeezing the bottle (which I felt quite exhausted), it would not pump up the foam again.
I assumed that I might not have learned the skills yet. However, when I tried the 2nd package 3 weeks later, I had the same awful experience again.
It stained my scalp rather than colored my hair. The shade is darker than it illustrated.
When the foam burst in my hands, it stained my white wall and counter with small dots!
Expensive and not worth the dollars!

I dyed my hair with this stuff and was impressed with the results, however 5 months later I tried to dye it with a different dye (l’oreal) and it only dyed the roots. I had a friend who is a certified hairstylist try to dye it, and SHE couldn’t do it. What ever is in this stuff, is crazy so if you do use it, DON’T change your color.

One other thing I forgot to mention is about the results of the hair color for you
Alot of people don’t understand everyones hair color is different your not always gonna get the exact color on the box for example if you go from black hair to the light blonde of course it’s not gonna be the exact blonde on the box your hair is dark you have to use it a few times before getting that blonde but trust me one use will get your hair pretty light concidering how dark it is cause my Sister went from black to blonde she got pretty light blonde hair. Also sometimes if you had your hair dyed a different color before using this dye sometimes the dye does not mix well with the other dye and can cause the color to come out funny so it’s best to strip out the old color then add this one. Another thing is bleaching your hair can be very damaging to your hair so don’t do that eather. If you like you can keep the color in a bit longer like 30 to 35 min I did that the first time.
So many people are saying the hair dye is damaging there hair. First thing you should do before ever dying your hair yourself from a box dye is seek a professional hair dresser and ask them what condition your hair is in just cause your hair looks healthy does not mean it’s healthy you should always find that out first. I’m not saying all of you but some of you might have had not so healthy hair when using the dye. also hair texture makes a difference as well if you have very fine thin hair when putting hair dye in it sometimes does have a tendency to fall out a bit so that’s how that goes.
Hair turning dark black instead of dark brown or brownish instead of blonde I tend to notice that when buying box hair color they tend to be darker then the color on the box my case with the one I got the exact color on the box 3rd one on back to be exact but with others my hair turned out darker that’s just the way these kind of dyes are so knowing that to easily avoid this problem go a shade or 2 lighter then your normal color you would use or want to get a more desired color that you wanted. Don’t label the product awful just cause it turned your hair somewhat darker.
As for the color dying your scalp I never had this happen to me not with any hair dye not this one eather what did you have in your hair before putting the dye on or did you just put something in your hair before putting the dye on or if your hair was dyed before it could be it did it not mix well with this dye again if your hair was dyed before it’s best you strip that color out before using not just this dye but any dye.
I’m only saying that everyones hair texture, color ect… is different so everyones gonna have a different result come on folks if you take proper precautions your hair should be fine again I loved this hair dye so glad I was one who dared to try it out
Learned alot from my Sister who does hair Cosmetology.

I have to agree with you here I had a wonderful experience with it as well my hair was a dirty blonde brown with a slight reddish in it I used the light blonde and I could not believe how right on the color turned out the 3rd color on the back on the back of the box it turned exactly that color I am so impressed but there are other things I loved about it
    1. Mess free and I so agree there as well how sloppy are these people when putting it on you don’t just slap it on take your time do a neat job I understand I was using blonde not a darker brown or black but still I never made any kind of mess with it.
    2. No drips or spills it was perfect mousse.
    3. Very easy to apply and the color comes out evenly with beautiful highlights you cant miss a spot with this.
    4. Smells not bad everyone say’s it stinks to me it smelled like a Red wine and personally I like the smell of wine so that didn’t bother me.
    5. No itchy burning scalp.
    6. No Stains it never stained me and the only 3 drops I got on me wiped right off with a dry wash cloth.
There is one thing only that did kinda bother me when rinsing my hair out it felt kinda straw like but as soon as I put the conditioner it felt so silky smooth
I quickly blow dried it loved the results so soft and silky smooth beautiful color with obvious highlights it looks so pretty not dull and borring like plain hair color with no highlights this was probably the easiest best hair color product I have ever used I love it and will continue to use it!
Much thanks Clairol I throughly injoyed your product some people may not like it but I do and want to continue with it so keep it comming.

I have used this twice. Very competently I might add. So bullies, BACK OFF.
First time, I enjoyed the colour. My sister who used to be hairdresser, parted my hair and did my roots. Great coverage, by a pro that is.
I just bought my second package, whatever matches 103B.
It sucks trying to do my own roots with this foam. I didn’t enjoy using it.
    – there are no separate times for computing your roots only. I guess you colour your whole head of hair like its a first time colour.
-it ends up feeling “scummy” on your skin – like the sludge on the side of a glass after a ice cream float. Hard to wash that off skin.
-still had white temples after leaving it on for 45 minutes.
    NOT RECOMMENDED.

Well, you cant just go from dark hair to blonde. You have to bleach it first, which box dyes do not do. This brand works awesome for various tones of the colour you want and covers up dark roots.

I’m 28 years old and have been dying my hair an array of different colors for 15 years I have tried so many different brands, I have found that no matter what a light blond with one brand will be a different shade of blond with another brand. I also know that nice and easy is always darker then what the box says. I just colored my hair today with this nice and easy foam, I found the application to be very easy and mess free, not a drop on my bathroom counter, I have no idea how anyone could get this all over the bathroom, with this or any other kind of dye, pay attention to what u are doing and if it does drip wipe up immediately just like the direction say.I didn’t find that this burnt my scalp and more or any less then another brand, and it washed out good and my hair is soft, shiny, it’s not falling out, it’s not blue and my grey is gone. It didn’t stain my skin or my scalp, all I have to say is that I may not love this product but in my opinion there is nothing wrong with it.

I don’t know who wrote the original review but they must have been paid under the table by Clairol??!! This is the worst product I’ve ever used and have been covering those gray hairs for awhile. Not only is it more expensive, the color is darker, my hair looks and feels dull and dry – even after those grease packets they include. What’s wrose is I tried to sign on to Clairol to submit a review – I registered, then tried to log in – said I didn’t exist – so tried to re-register – said I did exist – so tried to log in again – said it couldn’t locate my “account” and they also want to now the name of your first born?! Guess they don’t want negative reviews published.
I also had stained skin – the bottle was slimy – when you tried to squeeze for more foam. I don’t know about the rest of you but I only have two hands. I have short hair and it took 3X as long to try to cover it. I will be calling for a refund in the morning. Thanks for listening! 🙂

Hated this product!!!! Smells terrible, I now have shorter hairs on the left side of my temple (thank god I have curls and lots of hair to cover) and my hair turned out dry and very unmanagable. It definately did not feel like it had just been dyed. Couldn’t wait until I could re-do with another product. Will never try this product again or recommend it to friends.

I used this product several months ago, reddish brown. Prior to that I have only died my hair a few times to cover the few emerging grays. I thought the foam was much easier to use, so at first I was happy. The color came out dark. So, I did not notice at first that the dye actually stained my scalp. Ever since using this product in August, my hair has been breaking off and falling out. I believe that this product truly damaged my hair. On the sides I now have short pieces sticking out all over from the breakage. It is much, much thinner and insuch, I believe that I am going to have to get it cut short to make it look presentable. Despite the easiness of this product, I would not use it again out of fear of the damage that it will do.

The same thing happened to me! My dark brown hair is black. I have always used medium ash brown, and it came out a much different color than usual. Further insult, I gave my husband what I thought was a coupon if two of these were purchased, and I turned outto be $4 off the next time I purchased THREE! Heck, I don’t even want the one I have left. Also, I found it difficult to use the foam when I am gray and basically want it at my roots. Not easy to apply.

I’ve been using Nice n Easy every 6-8 weeks for as long as I can remember, I’ve probably used all of the shades of blonde at one point. I decided to try to foam because I thought it would be easier. I got the lightest shade available – light blonde, which was still a bit darker than my shade at the time. It was super easy to use, no mess or anything and no stains on my skin, but as I was washing it out, my biggest nightmare came true. I was looking at my blonde strands and thinking they looked a little blue in the shower, but I figured it was just the lighting. Nope. My. Hair. Turned. Blue. I don’t know if it was the product or the way I layered a dark color over my already light one. 8 weeks later and my hair is still tinted blue. I’ve never commented on anything like this before, but one of the things I take pride in is my long, straight, blonde hair. It’s still long and straight, but now blue. This is a nightmare.

Wish I’d read these comments BEFORE putting this stuff on my hair. I’ve been colouring my hair every 3 weeks for the past 9 years and have never used such a difficult product. Trying to apply foam just to the roots is impossible! The stuff wound up everywhere! On my forehead, on my neck, on my ears… and with regular applicators I can just apply the colour to my hair without additional tools. But with this product, I had to part my hair with a comb, then try to put the foam on the roots. Buying this was a mistake, and it will be a LONG time before I try an new hair colour product. I have now used the Foam Dye a few times…. Going blonder and blonder….. I LOVE IT!!!! If you make a mess…. That’s your own fault, its not like the bottle sprays out of control…. Dont be so messy…. Put paper towel under the bottle. As for the color of my hair….. I love it! Never had such an amazing experience!!!!!

After a hair bleaching fiasco, my hair was DRY, DRY,DRY. It felt like a brillo pad. My sister-in-law told I would need some intensive hair conditioning to get it back near normal.I had wanted to use the Hydrate Conditioner from Shielo Hair before I destroyed my hair. SO i decided to buy the Shielo Hydrate Conditioner and give it a try. After ONE application my dry, brillo bleached hair, it was shiny, soft and smelled great. My hair looked better than it did ever before. I do this once a week and my hair looks great, the color has been preserved, and I am never trying anything else. Ever.

If you actually read the directions, its states that its not a push pump in all caps…not to mention, if it doesnt go down, doesnt common sense tell you that something isnt right, and maybe you should look over the directions again?

I also don’t know what people are complaining about! I’m 46 and have been getting foil highlights for years. I went brown a few years ago, and loved it, but it was too expensive to maintain. A co-worker used this product and it turned out beautiful! I went right out to buy the product. I figured if I could color my own hair it would save alot of money! I was a little nervous because I had never colored my own hair. I went with a light brown just to be safe. It came out beautiful! Super easy! I will totally buy this product again. Maybe even go a little darker! Definately recommend it!

Amazing! I have NEVER died my hair EVER and I am 21 years old. Today I randomly decided to die my hair with this product and looked up reviews and found this site. I was scared to buy the product because of all the negative reviews until I watched this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2noL7KHZWpM . It looked easy so I went out and bought a box. I followed the directions about the dying part pretty well. I didn’t do a test or anything like that and I washed my hair the same day in the morning. It was not messy at all, it was sooo easy! And for that girl that said she broke the pump, you don’t push on it, you squeeze the bottle. Super easy, I used it all just to be safe. I let it sit for about 30-35 min then washed it out. I was scared because my hair felt like straw but I used the conditioner and my hair felt sooo soft. I blow dried it and looked at the colour and loved it! It was so simple! I would recommend this product to anyone! Of course, the only downside is that it STINKS. It smells like cat pee, so I did it with the window open.
    Awesome product, 9/10 ! 🙂

I found out the hard way with this crappy product as well… I loved the color it gave me, but it stained EVERYTHING in my bathroom!!! I couldn’t get it off, and was just lucky I tried a Magic Eraser- IT WORKED! So, if I were you, try a Magic Eraser, it cleaned up my stained tub, countertop, sink basin, even my toilet paper holder got stsined! But came off w/ the Magic Eraser… hope this saves your vanity! 🙂

I used Nice N Easy hair color one time. I loved the color but once my natural color began to show again I noticed many many solid white hairs. I would have thought “Eh , I’m just getting old” I’m 27, If I had noticed the slightest of grays before dying but I am 100% sure that it was this dye that bleached numurous strands of my hair. o.o I am not happy at all. I will be sure and find a better brand next time I dye my hair, I suggest unless you want white hair that you do the same.

I have used Clairol Nice and Easy for many many years with great satisfaction. I recently decided to try the new and more expensive so called ‘foam’ dye. Well, I was completely dissatified with the product. Never had a more messy and drippy time coloring my hair, plus my hair came out much much darker and barely covered the roots.. Even on day 1. I told my friend of my experience, but she had bought the product too, and decided to try it out. Well, she had the exact bad experience as me….. So much for new products….. Sometimes sticking with the old is much much better.

Like many of the above comments, I have used Clairol Nice and Easy for many many years. I figured I’d try the ‘newer’ and more expensive product just to see. Well, I saw all right. What a messy drippy and lousy job job it did. Hair came out much darker and barely covered the roots even on the first day. Never again will I use this so called foam product. I warned by friend, but she had bought it and decided to try it anyway. Well, she had the exact experience and same complaints as me. She said never again.

I don’t know what people are talking about the product works fine, and I didnt even have instructions in my box. I mixed the dye tried to figure out how the pump worked and then figured out that I had to squeeze it, no splattering it foamed just fine, I had a lot of product left, I had a few stains on my head and they came off with water and toilet paper. I got the dark brown shade and after reading the reviews I was afraid that my hair would be black but its a rather pretty shade of dark brown. The 2 packs of condtioner that comes with the kit I used mabe a teasspoon, it covered my hair really well and my hair is soft, and I have enough conditioner left to use once a week for at least 3 weeks. Just like the other cnditioners that come in hair dye products.
The only reason I am on this websit was to check how long I to keep the product on my hair and I find people are trashing the product …its a good product and I wil buy it again.

I liked it and it’s going on 7 weeks since I last colored it with the foam. It was tricky with the bottle at first but learned fast how to operate it. The only thing that worried me was my hair felt like straw after I washed out the foam and was never more happy to put on conditioner that came with it and after applying the conditioner my hair felt fine. It never changed color but stayed a very rich brown and never faded even after many shampoos. Bought it again and can’t wait to use it. Don’t give up because you get your money’s worth. NO FADING has made me happy.

I am convinced that this proves that there are so many people in the world that are so miserable that all they do is complain about everything! I read these ridiculous reviews after I bought this product and thought twice if I wanted to use it or not, but luckily since I know that everyone just likes to complain about anything, I wanted to try it for myself. It worked perfect and I don’t understand why there are so many complaints! My only guess was that you are all so miserable and having nothing better to do than complain. I’ve been coloring my hair for years and this product might not smell the best but neither does any other color product! There was no drip, it took me 15 mins less than the regular coloring products, the stains on my skin came off in the shower without scrubbing, and the conditioner worked fine! My hair is half way down my back and I didn’t even use a whole bottle. So, how about you follow the directions next time! The amount of complaints on here are ridiculous. These companies are trying to make it an easier experience and all you can do is complain?! Loved the product and plan to use it again! I mean really, toxic smell? Get some therapy people because you are all obviously unhappy with your lives and exaggerate about everything you can. Ridiculous!
Life is too short to complain all the time!

    NOT RECOMMENDED
    1) the odour. It is horrible, toxic and incredibly uncomfortable to ingest.
The colour isn’t bad but you can find just about any other colour box out there without the toxic fumes that it gives off.
It does stain quite badly in fact it dripped off my hands to my laundry room sink and it left a stain…I hate to say this but what is it doing to your hair/health!
I found (and I don’t know if it was just a coincidence) but I have a major headache and feeling dizzy the day after (almost like vertigo).
I would not recommend this product at all and I have used quite a lot of coloured products over the counter. I would prefer Loreal, more expensive but worth it. But even more so the natural, henna types are the best

I was excited to try this new/easy product.
I followed directions to the tee & was able to get one pump of foam out & put in my hair. When I went to get more foam the pump broke. It wouldn’t push down. Now, that I have some of my hair colored I no longer had access to hair color due to the fact that the pump broke.
I tried fixing the problem but couldn’t.
I am very dissatisfied with your product. It sounded really good @ first but now I am very upset that this has happened to me. I payed enough money for this & now its garbage.
I don’t even think that I should give this product a second chance.

I had the same experience. Been using Nice N Easy and/or Natural Instincts for years with good results. Bought the foam… had a hard time with bottle due to arthritic hands. My daughter ended up doing it for me and the odor took her breath away and made her gag. My hair came out much darker although I used light brown as always.
My forehead stained and I need to use alcohol as scrubbing with soap and water was not budging it. I still look like I have a bruised forehead. I heard others with the same experience were told to use dish detergent to try to lighten their hair. I used dish detergent with bleach… 3 washings now and still my hair is a dark and flat ugly color. None of the highlights that I normally experience. Horrible experience for me. Made me lose my trust in Clairol after using it for 30 years.

I HATE THIS PRODUCT!! I used a dark blonde color on my brown hair to lighten it for summer. Instead, the dye made my hair darker than its natural color! I was lucky because I dyed my hair outside and wore a very high cut shirt so I didn’t stain my skin or furniture/bathroom. However, the dye burned the back of my neck like heck! The color and stinging was bad, but the smell of the dye was even worse! I felt like I was going to pass out!!! I gagged every time I brought the dye up to my hair. Also, the conditioner was imposible to open in the shower so I had to run out of the shower while wet and get scissors! I will never, EVER, use this product again and I would advise that you steer clear of this horrible product. It smells disgusting, it burns and the color on the box is not a truthful representation of how your hair will turn out. DO NOT BUY THIS CRAP!!!!

I have been using Nice’n Easy for almost 40 years but no more. I won’t ever even use Clairol again. This was the worst stuff ever!!!!!!! The smell – there aren’t enough words to describe. Even with fans I thought I would pass out. I can attest to the terrible drippy inconsistent foam. It didn’t reach my roots but it did seem to do a good job of burning my scalp. I also have arthritic hands. I didn’t realize how hard I would have to squeeze the bottle. Since the bottle has to be upright, I couldn’t even use my feet on the floor. There is also less product than with regular nicen easy and since the bottle has to be upright to squeeze you really don’t use all of it without taking the top off. Since there was less product, my hair would not pile on top of my head as usual. I got stains on my arms, shoulders and back. I was taking a trip and had to scrub like mad to lighten them. Leave yourself enough time to wash this out, get to the store and buy another product to do it over again. As I said, I have been coloring my hair for almost 40 years and this was the worst ever!!!! Do not buy this product.

Reading the reviews my hair is naturally dry anyways and it seems that if I do use the foam it will dry it out even worse. My mother used it and she did not like it. It made her hair darker than what the box said. She used the golden brown color. Reviews seem accurate.

GARBAGE…will never buy again. I thought I was the only one having problems. If you choose to use this product you better have clorox and fingernail polish at the ready because if it sits too long (30 seconds) it stains and no amount of scrubbing seems to get it off. This stuff stains FAST…and runs all over and I don’t use THAT much on my hair. I noticed too, after I rinsed well…as always…it seems to flake…like there is still stuff all over your hair. Worst product I’ve ever used…

I can’t believe how I have just trashed my own hair with this terrible product. I have successfully dyed my hair many times with other brands using their basic “medium brown” color, but after using the nice n’ easy color foam “medium brown,” my hair is nearly black, the color is uneven and patchy, some of my gray still shows and I can’t get the stains off my face!!! As to whoever said how great this product is and we are just looking for a reason to complain about it, you are incorrect. And you would think otherwise if you were now spending hours searching the internet trying to find a remedy to fix your own hair without destroying it. I have neither the time or desire to complain for the heck of it. I only wish I had checked out some reviews of this product before I used it myself, and I would like to spare other women the same hair disaster I am having.

Well, usually I use professional color, however I wanted to try the Nice and Easy foam product,so I purchased 6N,which is my natural hair color. I just grew out a copper red and wanted to stay as natural as possible.
I mixed the color and started the application which I found difficult and straining on my wrist, the “foam” was weak and liquid and only seemed to develop a better consistency when I pressed the bottle really hard,a task that is challenging, when the gloves are wet.
I did managed to get most out of the bottle in a somewhat foamy state.
Once it was applied, the product decided to obey the law of gravity and started to drip.
After the processing time,I rinsed it out, worked the conditioner in,towel dried it and check the result in the mirror…my first reaction was to contact the company to force them to pay my hairdresser to correct this mess right away. Then again,my hair doesn’t take to well to chemical procedures,so I had to wait.
What I ended up with :
1 inch from the root was at least a shade lighter radiating a dull, brassy, golden medium to dark blond, the mid shaft was brown, the ends where dark brown and everything had a strong orange glow.
    I’ve never seen that before.
My greys where covered til the first wash (2 days later) now they are visible again.
    And “natural” highlights…really?Where?
It’s like those old home colors, solid and fake looking, unless one considers the horizontal stripes to be “highlights”.
Will I referred this brand to others ?Never!
Will I make sure my friends don’t buy this? Absolutely!
Infact, whenever I see someone reach for it in the store,I’ll make sure to deter them.
Sorry, but this is just a crappy product, that doesn’t live up to its promise at all.
What a waste of time and money that was.
    Never again!!!

Well I guess I should consider myself lucky that I didn’t experience all the problems that other users had BUT I have enough of my own that I’ll never use this product again.
While I didn’t have any problems with staining (either my scalp or sink), I, like so many others, don’t care for the smell and the condition of my hair seems a little more “straw like”……but the biggest complaint I have is the COLOR! I have used regular Nice N Easy in color 116 (light brown) for years and mistakenly thought light brown (color 6) in the new foam application was the same…It even had the same model!!! Was I ever wrong…..this is at least 2 shades darker and I even cut short the processing time by 5 to 7 minutes and used shampoo when rinsing it after reading previous comments.
For once, I’ll be washing my hair every day and hoping it fades soon!!! I would not recommend this product!!!

I say we ban these losers from using any of their products, no matter how good they may be. I almost used it, but thank GOD I read all these reviews and have obviously decided against it. I can’t believe how they treat customers, like one reviewer mentioned, but that’s where they’ve gone wrong. Customer service seems a thing of the past. When reviewers lend their voice to a community and we stick together, the company will either take heed or ignore us. I suggest they listen up or they’ll go down.

I have colored my hair for 20years now since I started going gray early. I have used every brand and type of hair color probably that they have made. I have never complained about haircolor before, EVER!
I would never buy this product again. Stay away from it. It’s horrible.
I bought the same color as I always buy regardless of the brand. I applied it exactly as the instructions stated. I did not do a strand test since I’ve never had a problem with any haircolor I’ve used before. This time it was definitely different.
My hair felt like straw after I rinsed it out. The tub was stained brown and the white polyester shower curtain was ruined from rinsing the hair color out. This has never happened before – I can’t say that enough because I’m still in shock about all this.
Also the white vanity was stained where I accidentally dropped some of the
foam solution. I immediately tried wiping it off with baby wipes and it
    didn’t come off.
The bottle was slippery as I was applying the foam and it slipped out of my hand and flew across the room sliding across the toilet seat and hitting the wall and then the vinyl flooring. Again I got out the baby wipes and tried wiping the stuff off right away. It too wouldn’t come off.
The floor and new toilet seat are permanently stained.
When I got out of the shower I looked at my head and my scalp was dark brown like my hair. This stuff dyed my scalp and trust me it looks strange.
I had a job interview tomorrow and I couldn’t go like this, so I got back in the shower with dish soap and scrubbed my scalp with the stuff trying to get it off. I had very little luck. The color is horrible and my scalp is colored and looks terrible too. It looks like I took a light brown magic marker and colored my scalp and hairline with it. Yuuck!!!
Trust me this stuff won’t be on the market for long. Save your money and buy something decent that is actually safe.
If you can imagine that if this stuff is permanently coloring my hair and scalp, my toilet seat, my vanity top and my tub and shower curtain what is it doing to my body? The toxins from this stuff has to be in my blood stream now. With my luck I’ll probably get cancer from this!
PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS CRAP!!!

I too have just coloured my hair (5A-Medium Ash Brown) and I am SO grateful that you all took the time to post comments! After applying the foam I realized that unusual things were starting to happen: the gloves were turning an unusually dark tone, black dye marks on my skin were impossible to scrub off, my dried out hair was getting stiffer and stiffer, etc. Fortunately, at that point, I checked your reviews and managed to save my new shower and grout from some very expensive damage. My hair, instead of the usual highlighted medium brown I’ve come to expect from the Nice’n easy brand I’ve used for many years, is now an extremely dark black-brown – NOT very flattering!
I have never felt compelled to post comments on any product before this, but I am truly shocked that a reliable company such as Clairol could market such a horrifically problematic product.

Very disappointing, bought reddish brown foam which turned my roots red and the ends black! within 10 days any traces of red had washed away and my hair was more or less back to original colour which was a good thing in this case, but not what i would expect from a permanent hair colour. Do not buy this product!

I used this product last night, medium blonde. Well I am embarrassed to be out in public. Like some of the other people, I had trouble with getting foam, when I did it was so runny. Bottom line, I now have red, grey and kind of blond streaks. Not happy and usually love the Nice and Easy but think I will pick a new company product.

I just used this product (4 Dark Brown). I have Asian coarse, thick, black/brown hair which is turning gray with age. Typically I’ve used another brand – a cream color, but decided to try this because I found it for $7 at a local store. I would warn you to prepare your ears, neck, hairline, and forehead with something like petroleum jelly because I did end up with some tough stains on my neck and hairline which were hard to remove. Wear some kind of old t-shirt to prevent your skin from getting specks or in case of accidental foam fall over. As for the color, I shook the bottle after putting the two together, it says wait 30 seconds, but I waited a little longer. Then I put the foaming top on, you need to keep the bottle straight up and down, or else your foam will become a bit ‘soft/runny.’ I worked the foam through to my roots, typically I have to work any color to my roots to make sure I get good coverage. I left this on for approximately 33 minutes and my gray hairs were completely covered. I rinsed my hair quite thoroughly, however, anytime I ever color my hair, I can never get the rinse water to become completely free of any color. Typically, I use a small amount of Sodium Laural Sulfate free shampoo and then use two applications of color sealing conditioner afterwards. Then dried my hair with a hair dryer. Careful inspection of my completely white hairs and for the most part, they were completely covered. I have resistant grays that sometimes do not take color. For the few hairs that are super stubborn, they had color, but were more on the dark mahogany/reddish highlight type of look which just naturally highlights my hair. I’m pleased with the results as it did blend away my grays. I have shorter hair, so I did not use the entire bottle’s contents. I’m not sure about the other women who did not like their results, but my experience, I got the color I selected and my grays were covered or blended well with the rest of my hair. I do not normally like to use black as it is often too blue/black and too dark. This shade seemed just right and very close to my natural color.

My hair color is the Natural Dark Golden blonde and I am unable to find this color in any of the stores now. I was using the color blend Nice and Easy and it said on the box that it was a new shade but when I asked one of the stores where I shop they said it was discontinued. I would like to know why and what shade are you replacing it with. If it is not discontinued would you tell me where I can find it. I live in Loveland Colorado.

I am so disappointed in this product. I wish I had read reviews on it before I used it. It is uncontrollable and it does color your hair much darker than the stated or shown color on the box, I have always colored my hair with clairol products in a medium ash brown and have gotten good results, this was a whole other ball game that was suppose to be easier. I beg to differ. I went and purchased a lighter color which only lightened the roots and not the “black” tips. Horrible experience and will be a costly mistake since I will either have to go to a salon to get it fixed or live with it until I get it cut again and hope some of the black washes out of my hair. I can not recommend this product to anyone.

OMG…. what a useless product. I have been coloring my full head of shoulder length hair for 30 years. I will go back to Perfect 10 tomorrow.
First of all the one good thing….lots of product, but really who cares if they get lots of terrible product?
It made my scalp itch. I use Ucerin cream to cover my face and at the ears and hairline to prevent color on my skin. This works very well. In this case it didn’t really keep the foam from running down my neck and onto my arms past the gloves. The smell was something like cheap chocolate mixed with coffee grounds.
I decided to do in internet search for reviews at the 10 minute mark. I was in the shower immediately as I had read the color tends to come out much darker. After 12 minutes on my head the color was as dark as I needed it to be but my roots look reddish.??????????????
Forget about my sink…….how do you say Clorox soaking time?
I am still wondering if it will come out of my floor tile grout.
    Lesson learned;
read all reviews before believing a new advertisement.

This is the worst hair color I have ever used. That is a big statement considering I have been coloring my hair at home since I was 18 and I am now 41. I have very long, very thick hair and I touch up my roots every 5 weeks for the last 23 years. I have tried every product as it comes out but always go back to the basic N’NE formula as I will again after this. First off the stuff didn’t foam up right a way after shaking. The first 2 pumps were liquidy goo that I discarded in the sink. (which I now have to bleach because this stuff got everywhere) The instructions should say to let it sit for a sec after shaking. Once the foam was working I started putting it in my hair and you just can’t be precise with it. It just lies on the top of your hair and you have to wiggle it into your roots. But, after a few minutes, it made my hair so stiff that I could barely get my fingers into my root area. The whole time I couldn’t be sure I was getting it where it needed to because I was using both hands to put this stuff in and sectioning doesn’t really work when you have a pile of foam that goes flat as soon as you touch your hair. It’s hard to explain, but you can’t be precise with it. So I did what I could and made certain to do my temples to get those fine grays that live there. Left it the 35 minutes it says for resistant grays and got in the shower. The conditioner…OMG….I have not had to take a pair of scissors in the shower since the 90’s..really….pouches of conditioner….WTF. And for me the BOTH pouches were not enough. My hair was so dry that I got to the nape with the 2 conditioners and had to use my own to get my fingers through to the ends. This is not a problem with the regular N’NE conditioner tube. I purchased Dark Brown #4. Now that my hair is dry I can tell you that my roots are now very light brown and the rest of my hair is dark brown! And my temples…well the skin is dark brown but the hair is still gray! This stuff is AWFUL! Even with a large coupon it was not worth the money because now I have to go and get a regular N’NE and do it all over again.

Just wanted to update my comment. I rinsed the color out of my hair, and kept the conditioner on for about 5 minutes. Then after rinsing I shampoo’d it. I was able to get all the color off my hair. However my hairline is another story. I will have to wear my hair with bangs for a while. No amount of scrubbing would get the dye off my skin.
I used light brown and my hair came out dark brown, just thought I would throw that in too.
I am very unhappy with this product.

I will NEVER use this again, and I suggest you RUN away from this product!

First time ever dying my hair I used this product. I loved it at first, the color was great, it worked good. Everything seemed fine. Then the next day I woke up, took a shower, got out, blow dried my hair and the top of my hair wouldnt dry. It was really wierd. I noticed that it wasn’t wet but oily. I thought oh well maybe I didn’t wash my hair well enough. But the next day it did the same thing, and the next day, and the next day. It just keeps getting worse and worse! The whole top of my head is literally all grease, and what’s rediculous is I just got out of the shower! I don’t know what to do! I’ve tried so many remedies and nothing seems to work. I regret ever dying it I just wish it was back to the way it was before 🙁

Blonde is not DARK BROWN and BROWN is not BLACK!
I am going on a trip and will have to pay a hairdresser to fix their problem….this is very frustrating!!!

I used this product in 5G Medium Golden Brown. I left the product on for 25 minutes, then had a great deal of difficulty in rinsing it out–stuck like glue to my hair, as well as being in my scalp. I ended up shampooing hair, which helped. The hair is much darker than it should be, but the shampooing did remove the product from my scalp.

CAREFUL the new foam is UNPREDICTABLE!  I have been coloring my hair for years and years using a competitor’s product and have never had any problems. This morning I used Nice’n Easy foam 5rb (medium reddish brown) and after 22 minutes my hair was pitch black! I called the customer service line and the only solution that they offered was to strip the color from my hair and then re-color with another nice’n easy product. When I told the rep that I was afraid to use 2 more processes on recently colored hair (I figure this would damange my hair and even perhaps make it fall out of my head!!)- he told me that perhaps I should go to a hair salon to have it done – at my expense of cause! I find it amazing that even in these tough economic times a company with a consumer name an repretation of Clairol would basically tell their unsuspecting customers that even though (through no fault of the customer) their product worked in a awful and unexpected manner-

I’m going back to L’oreal Superior Preference!

Ever.

I AM A PAST HAIRDRESSER……WHO HAS COLORED MY OWN HAIR FOR 20 YEARS. THIS IS THE BEST PRODUCT SO FAR. MAKES ME WONDER?? THE VIDEO ON THE CLAIROL SITE TELLS YOU EXACTLY WHAT TO DO. THERE IS NO SPILLS. NO DRIPS. NO BOTTLES GOING ALL OVER THE BATHROOM. NO STAINED COUNTERS, SHOWER CURTAINS. OR WALLS! IT GAVE ME THE EXACT COLOR I WANTED. THE HAIRLINE HAD LESS STAINING THAN ANY OTHER COLOR I’VE EVER USED. LESS DRIPS. LOTS OF PRODUCT AS SOMETIMES I RUN OUT. SO MESS WAS NON EXISTENT IN MY BATHROOM AND ON MY HEAD. IT WAS NO MESS, NO FUSS AND PERFECT RESULTS. USE SOME COMMON SENCE AND IT IS FOOL PROOF. LOVE IT!! I WAS SO SCARED I TOO ALMOST THREW IT AWAY. AM I EVER GLAD I DIDN’T.

Do not buy this product.

i bought it and i am looking at the samy fat foam box and I want to bring it back to the store. I think i will use loreal paris healthy look gloss color again. looking at dying my natural dark blonde hair natural dark blonde because of sun damage.

My hair is almost black and brittle as straw. I am really disappointed and wish I had my #114 back. I can’t stay home until it grows off so I will try to overlay the color with a lighter color as soon as I can get to the store. No more foam for me.

It stinks like stale beer, and I dyed my hair a week ago, and my hair still stinks. I won’t use it again, and now I like you Debbie have never been compelled to go online and complain.

    Lesson learned;
read all reviews before believing a new advertisement.
