If you’ve ever fallen hopelessly in love with a nail polish shade only to discover it has been discontinued, OPI has some very good news for you.
To celebrate 45 years of iconic nail moments, OPI is opening up its extensive colour vault and bringing back some of the shades fans have spent years asking to see again. And considering the brand has released hundreds of memorable colours over the past four-and-a-half decades, there was plenty to choose from.
OPI’s “Fall 2026 Most Requested Collection” is essentially a greatest-hits tour for your fingertips, mixing 12 resurrected cult classics with new shades inspired by some of the brand’s most recognizable colours.
For longtime OPI devotees, the returning polishes are likely to inspire some serious nostalgia. The lineup reaches back into the brand’s archives to revive colours that disappeared from shelves but never completely disappeared from fans’ wish lists.
Among the shades making a comeback is Every Month Is Oktoberfest, a moody deep violet with red shimmer that feels practically made for sweater weather. There’s also Louvre Me Louvre Me Not, a rich, inky purple, and Route Beer Float, a deep brown with mauve undertones and subtle shimmer.
And those aren’t the only familiar bottles returning to nail polish racks.
The vault has also been cracked open for Mod About You Pastel, a soft, cool-toned pink; Lincoln Park After Midnight, OPI’s famously dramatic near-black purple; Vodka & Caviar, a sophisticated classic red; and Mrs. O’Leary’s BBQ, a rich burgundy that has long had its own devoted following.
The timing couldn’t be better. Beauty’s ongoing obsession with the ’90s and Y2K has made archival colours feel surprisingly fresh again, while the return of deeper reds, browns, plums and vampy shades makes many of OPI’s old favourites perfectly suited to Fall 2026. What once felt trendy suddenly feels timeless. (Even bedazzling is back!)
Of course, OPI isn’t relying entirely on nostalgia. Alongside the returning vault shades, the anniversary collection introduces new colours that riff on some of the company’s best-known polishes, giving longtime favourites a 2026 update.
It’s a fitting way for the brand to mark its 45th anniversary. Since launching in 1981, OPI has become almost as famous for its cheeky shade names as it has for the colours themselves. Over the years, those tiny bottles have served as miniature beauty time capsules, capturing everything from the pale-pink manicure eras to the dark, vampy nails of the ’90s and the glitter-heavy experimentation of the early 2000s.
And while beauty trends have a habit of disappearing and eventually coming back around, OPI’s latest collection proves that sometimes the easiest way to find the next must-have manicure is simply to look into the vault.
For anyone who has been hoarding the last few drops of a discontinued favourite, consider this permission to finally use them.
