If you know me, you know I’m one sun freckle away from carrying an umbrella over my head when it’s hot and sunny outside. I actually think I would, could be that person. Except that I do everything in my power, like wearing a pashmina wrapped around my head underneath my hoodie, which is of course beneath my hooded trench coat to avoid carrying an umbrella, even when there’s a torrential downpour. So there’s that.
Still, if 88-year-old beauty brand Ducray hadn’t just launched their Melascreen Photo-Aging Global Serum and Night Cream I might be out window-shopping umbrellas right now. Sure, the duo is one of a million anti-aging serums and night creams lining drugstore shelves right now. That’s fair. What makes it different for me and now a must rotate in my many tubes and bottles skincare regime is that it’s the perfect counter point to the thick layer of SPF I slather on 365/12.
The serum actually sits nicely under my lotion/sunscreen combo. It absorbs easily, evens out my reddish skin tone and plumps up my face (the only body part I actually like having a little oomph on), so my fine lines and wrinkles aren’t as noticeable. The night cream provides the same sun-spot-busting perks and regenerates my skin while I sleep. Both products are packed with the good acids, hyaluronic and glycolic for optimum cellular turnover, along with antioxidants, vitamins and active ingredients to repair and prevent aging. I can honestly say I wake up looking fresher and well rested, despite burning the midnight oil trying to cram my too busy life into a full 24 hours.
