Several fashion houses and brands are releasing capsule collections to celebrate the Chinese New Year, which falls on January 25, 2020. It’s the Year of the Rat and many brands are paying homage to Mickey and Minnie Mouse.
Pandora
Pandora has released a Shining Rat Charm, $75, with a rat wearing the Pandora crown atop their head. In addition to these adorable charms, they released Disney’s Chinese New Year charms, $85, featuring Mickey and Minnie in traditional Chinese outfits, which are really cute too. For an extra dose of good luck in the New Year, the bail of the dangle charm is shaped like a Chinese fortune coin.
Fenty Beauty
Riri’s Fenty has unveiled a stunning Stunna New Year Highlighter + Lip Set: Lunar New Year Edition, $66. The limited-edition set includes two cult favorites: Killawatt Highlighter in Mean Money and Hu$tla Baby and Stunna Lip Paint in Uncensored. It’s the iconic, must-have highlighter paired with the universal red lip paint to turn heads this festive season.
Kérastase Paris
Kérastase Paris is relaunching their iconic hair oil with a Lunar New Year twist! They are celebrating the Year of the Rat with the re-release of their infamous Elixir Ultime Hair Oil, $60, in a beautiful limited edition luxe red packaging.
MAC Cosmetics
Instead of opting for rat symbols, MAC Cosmetics has reimagined their best-selling Lipstick, Lipglass, Eye Shadow and Powder Blush shades into limited-edition packaging called Lunar Illusions collection. They infused colors from traditional Chinese New Year celebrations with red and gold colors, bringing the items to life.
Aldo
Aldo has launched a really cute lineup of Mickey and Minnie-inspired pieces to kick off the Chinese New Year. Symbolic of good fortune, prosperity and happiness, the Disney x ALDO Lunar New Year collection puts a twist on timeless Aldo silhouettes. Charmed jewels, graphic Mickey Mouse cup sole sneakers, and Minnie Mouse shaped handbags and accessories are all available in lucky shades of red and gold for a fortuitous Lunar New Year.
Charlotte Tilbury
The brand has released a Lunar New Year Limited Edition of Magic Cream Moisturizer, $133. The award-winning hydrating moisturizer lifts and smooths the skin targetting dryness, fine lines and wrinkles.
Nudestix
Nudestix launched a limited-edition kit, Red Love Lip Kit, featuring three bold lip pencils in an exclusive red tin can be used as matte lipstick, lip liner, lip gloss, or blush. It easily works for Chinese New Year as well as Valentine’s Day.
NARS
The NARS Afterglow limited edition moisturizing lip balm, $37, is available in a gorgeous subtle tint of color and the packaging of red and gold is perfect to celebrate the Lunar New Year.
Burberry
The luxury fashion brand is celebrating the upcoming Year of the Rat, starring brand ambassador Zhou Dongyu and models He Cong and Liang Jiyuan. The campaign showcases a vivid red collection of tailored and sports-influenced pieces, with highlights including new versions of the label’s signature Union sneaker and Lola bag in a bright red hue. On Instagram, Burberry referred to the shade as a color that heralds “joy, health and happiness.” The collection, which is now available to buy in select stores globally, is peppered throughout with a limited-edition Thomas Burberry Monogram motif inspired by the Chinese zodiac.
GLAMGLOW
One of my favorite products from GlamGlow is the Supermud Clearing Treatment, $77. The brand is launching a limited-edition Supermud, in red and gold packaging in honor of the Year of the Rat — so you can give the gift of clear skin for the New Year.
Elizabeth Arden
In celebration of Chinese New Year, Elizabeth Arden has released the limited-edition Advanced Ceramide Capsules, $98, in red packaging. These iconic capsules are filled with a lightweight, silky smooth serum to retexturize, restore and revitalize skin for a youthful appearance. In addition, every ceramide capsule purchase will come with a special gift including an Elizabeth Arden Red Door mirror, two 7-piece ceramide capsules and a Chinese New Year themed-pouch.
