Tips to Look Hot in White Denim

Done right, a pair of white jeans will look crisp and be the most versatile piece in your wardrobe this season. Done wrong, they can act like a spotlight for all your lower body concerns (exposing saddlebags or cellulite). Follow our few simple rules for fit and style and this summer, you’ll be white hot.

A Style for Everyone

The trick to pulling off white jeans is pairing them with an appropriately fitting top. If you go for a skinny pair, (a great summer update to jeggings) balance them with a the long-sleeve, loose-fitting blue denim button-up. Don’t be afraid to go for this denim on denim look “ but keep in mind that your top should fit on the looser side (slightly untucked, of course!) for a relaxed but chic look. It’s even safe to try a white jean in a boyfriend style; just be sure to wear a more fitted tee on top for a touch of femininity. The most modern white jean, though, is a cropped style cut just above the ankle. This style should fit close to the body and can be worn with almost any kind of top (try covering up with a classic trench on cooler nights.) If you’re more pear-shaped, opt for a straight, or trouser cut to give the illusion of a streamlined silhouette.

Details to Look For

When wearing white jeans, proper pocket placement is the difference between a perfect pass and a fashion fail. Our pocket notes? Choose a pair with medium sized pockets that are placed evenly in the middle of your backside. Pockets too small will create the illusion of a larger rear while pockets placed too low will shorten your legs. When thinking about footwear, you can count on a pair of brown leather sandals (think last year’s gladiator style) as a great casual shoe to wear when sporting this trend. If you’re looking to take your white denim into the evening, try a pair of cork and leather wedges.

Be Prepared

Why is it that the day you sport white jeans is the very day you spill coffee on your lap? Be prepared for those inevitable stains by storing a Tide Stick in your purse. The only colour that should be on white jeans is some vibrant, coloured stitching. It’s an optional detail that can make your white denim pop in a playful way.
