The Spring 2018 Fashion Trends We’re Coveting

March has officially arrived, which means it’s time to prepare for (slightly) warmer weather and (somewhat) longer days. But more importantly, it’s finally time to give our winter wardrobes a much-needed break as we begin to bring our spring pieces into rotation. Whether you’ve begun your spring shopping or you still have yet to say farewell to your go-to puffy jacket and boots, here are eight spring 2018 fashion trends hot off the street style scene of Fashion Week that you need to have on your radar ASAP.

Spring Fashion Trends

Plastic Fantastic
Adding a subtle risqué element to your wardrobe is the perfect way to shift your style into high gear this spring. As seen on the runways of Chanel, Valentino, and Anya Hindmarch, translucent plastic pieces allow you to push the boundaries while still remaining true to your personal style. From boots and jackets to purses and accessories, the more transparent the better! Use this stunning robin’s egg blue Calvin Klein number as your shopping inspiration.

Micro Sunglasses
We’ve seen celebrities and fashion bloggers all ditching their oversized sunnies and swapping them for smaller and sleek frames. Look for styles in cat-eye shapes to candy-coloured lenses for an instant accessories upgrade. We love these these futuristic Le Spec shades ($120).

Pastels
Pastels for spring? Groundbreaking. However, cotton candy-hues are going to be everywhere this season, as seen on the runways of Céline, Bottega Veneta, and Loewe. Look for Disney princess-inspired shades of pink, blue, green, and yellow and fully embrace them by mixing them together in unexpected ways such as on this stunning Coach Prairie Rivets Slip Dress ($1120).

Spring trends

The Updated Trench
While it might seem like trench coats are a thing every spring, this year’s trenches have received a much-needed refresh. Think: cool colours, cuts and fabrics and sporty details that add a touch of flair to an otherwise classic or understated look. We’re definitely feeling this trimmed trench from Zara ($129) as it gives you the classic look of a timeless trench while the bold red and yellow racing stripes make it feel fresh.

Sportif
Ditch the gym and get ready to hit the streets. Sporty athleisurewear completely dominated the Instagram feeds of Fashion Week’s hottest street style stars and it’s safe to say that the fashion world is officially obsessed with this care-free trend. From chunky “Dad” sneakers like these amazing Gucci kicks ($820), to chic tracksuits, we’re getting major Sporty Spice vibes from this trend.

Checks & Balances
Another trend that’s sticking around this season is heritage checks, and we couldn’t be happier about it. Whether you’re looking to rock a head-to-toe checkered power suit or keep it subtle with a pair of structured pants or a blazer, try to add a casual piece into the mix like a pair of sneakers or a gorgeous coat for the ultimate cool-girl combo. Our pick: this stunning By Malene Birger blazer ($595).

Belt Bags
Love them or hate them, belt bags are going to be everywhere this spring. Worn belted at the waist or over the shoulder for a more updated look, the fanny pack can be found at every price point (like this chic belt bag from Bauble Bar ($42)) so you don’t necessarily have to break the bank to enjoy this must-have trend.

Rainbow Hues
If you’re tired of rocking your trusted head-to-toe black winter uniform, add some life to your wardrobe by stepping out of the dark and into the world of kaleidoscope colours. This season, don’t be afraid to mix bold and bright hues together like with this Zara bodysuit ($49.90). The way to nail this trend is keeping it casual on the bottom by throwing on sneakers, boots, or kitten heels and keeping your look playful on top.
