Jeans that Flatter Every Body Shape

The hunt for the perfect jeans can be an agonizingly frustrating experience, in which we’ll do just about anything to squeeze into that perfect pair. We’ll hike-up the waistbands, use the pull-and-jump method and suck in our tummies for dear life as we usher the fastenings together. The result? A flat tush, a muffin top and organs that are being suppressed.

But guess what? Jean shopping doesn’t have to be this painful. Sure, everyone wants to try out new denim fads, but actually knowing your body type and dressing for your shape will yield farther greater results than trying to shimmy into an ill-fitting pair of denim. So read on below to find the perfect pair of blues for your shape:

Petite
Skinny jeans are your best friend as they elongate your legs, actually making you appear taller. If you are petite and a bit top-heavy, a more straight leg jean will balance out your top half. Also note that if you have a Kim Kardashian behind, you can still wear skinnies if paired with a longer tee or tunic, which will make you look more svelte.

Curvy
Bootcut and/or wide-leg jeans are your best choice if you want to appear leaner and longer. Bootcut jeans actually conceal thick calves, while a wide-leg or flared jean will balance a top-heavy bust or middle. Just remember that the most slimming denim will be one devoid of any whiskering (bleached stripes near the inseam) and embellishments. Look for a uniform dark wash jean for the most flattering and slimming silhouette. Oh, and if you want to minimize a booty, refrain from denim with bulky pockets and flaps.

Tall
Lucky for you (and sadly for us!), you can wear almost any style of denim! Bootleg, straight leg, wide-leg, skinnies; you name it, you can wear it. However, if you have a long torso and short legs, opt for a high-waisted pair of jeans that will make your gams appears longer and your torso shorter. Also look for denim that has a long enough inseam; a pair of jeans that are too short will make you look stout.

Athletic
The one trend you athletic girls can pull-off successfully is the boyfriend jean trend. If you are lean and have little to no curves, the boyfriend jean will skim your body rather than hug it if you were curvy. Of course, every woman wants to feel a little curvaceous now and again, so to achieve a curvy silhouette choose a well-fitting, straight-leg to skinny jean, which will place focus on your thighs and bottom. You can also get away with some minor whiskering detail and pocket embellishment that will give the illusion of more curves.
