Fall Fashion 101: A Lesson in Layering

As much as we loved four months full of ice cream, sun dresses, and skinny dipping in lakes (what?), we’re looking forward to chillier temperatures. Fall is the season of hot chocolate, rich hues, and of course, fashion week. If you’ve been flicking through street style photos, trying to figure out how nail that fall fabulous look, we have just the thing for you. Behold, the only lesson in layering you’ll ever need.

Wondering how to get wear out of your maxi dress after the summer? Easy, throw a leather jacket on top to channel biker babe meets boho chic.

Be My Boyfriend
Add a boyfriend blazer on top of a button down. Pair with an oversized belt to accentuate your waistline.

Dress It Up
Instead of using your dress as the base for layering, switch it up and wear it on top of a t-shirt or button down.

Dress-ception
Play mind games with onlookers by layering a skirt on top of a dress. Basically the inception of fashion. Tip: Opt for a skirt that flares out and has a slit so the bottom layer is visible.

Don’t shy away from layering several pieces atop of one another. Dress+ t-shirt + sweater + fur scarf = fashion queen. Plus, it’s the only thing that’ll get you through a Canadian winter.

Theory of Relativity
Play with different proportions and shapes. Layer a button down with a cropped sweater and complete the look with a duster coat. It’ll keep you warm and prove your sartorial prowess.
