After years of anticipation, we finally got the full scoop on Target‘s launch in Canada. With most stores opening in March and April, Target officially unveiled which designers and brands they’ll be partnering with. At an exclusive media event, held at Evergreen Brickworks in Toronto last night, we were among the first to get a sneak peek of the products and meet the famous designers behind these stylish and affordable brands.
Here are all the brands you can expect to see at your local Target:
Nate Berkus
As huge fans of the Oprah Winfrey Show, it was hard not to be star-struck when we met the one and only Nate Berkus. He was on hand to launch his home accessories line, the Nate Berkus Collection, an assortment of over 150 products, including bath, bedding, dé©cor, lighting, rugs and window treatments. Berkus took a few minutes to talk with us privately and share some of his design tips.
People say that I have a ˜Peter Pan complex’ because I have this very young mentality, but I was always very mature when it came to design, he shared. The one thing that I think is important for a young person to have in mind when they are starting out is to not buy furniture that is temporary. Buy pieces that will travel with you forever. I just moved¦ and it occurred to me that many of the pieces I love were in my first apartment. My budget has changed and my style has evolved, but the pieces that I bought originally that were well-made and had style, I still live with every day.
Treat yourself to the well-made and stylish pieces in Nate’s collection, exclusively at Target!
Giada De Laurentiis
Top chef, television personality and author of some of the (in our opinion) best cook books ever, Giada De Laurentiis is bringing her collection of cookware to Target in Canada! It is so cold here in Toronto! she joked at last night’s media event. The Los Angeles native has been working with Target for three years, perfecting her line, making sure each item was built to last and affordable, with prices ranging from $5.99 to $249.99.
Shaun White
Shaun White (one of the most well-known athletes around the world) couldn’t make it to the Target Canada launch, but he delivered a video message, introducing us to his apparel collection for young men and boys. I am very proud of this line that my brother and I started, he said. White also shared his love for Canada and all the great memories he’s had in our country, including competing in the Vancouver Olympics and his family trips to Whistler. The Shaun White Collection includes denim, shorts, tops, sweatshirts and graphic tees.
Sonia Kashuk
Target began their relationship with cosmetics guru Sonia Kashuk in 1999 and since then they’ve grown her collection into a big beauty brand, including makeup, skin care, cosmetics tools and bags. Prices range from $1.99 to $39.99. Expect to see her bags, brushes, lashes and accessories in stores in March. The full cosmetics line will be launched later this year.

Roots Outfitters
We were excited to hear that a Canadian brand would be partnering with Target. Roots will have an exclusive limited-time collection, called Roots Outfitters at Target, including fashion for women, men, kids and toddlers. Roots founders Michael Budman and Don Green introduced the collection at last night’s media event. We are really happy to be associated with Target, said Budman. [Target opening in Canada] is not only great for the consumers, but also for the Canadian economy because it will create thousands of jobs. The Roots line will be available from March to June 2013.
Kate Young
The former Vogue assistant turned celebrity fashion stylist will be launching a limited-time collection for Target available from April 14 to the end of May 2013. The Hollywood Reporter has named her the most influential stylist in Hollywood. Young’s collection will include women’s apparel and accessories.
These are just a sampling of what you’ll find at your local Target, come March. Other brands include Archer Farms, C9 by Champion, Cherokee, Circo, Liz Lange Maternity, Market Pantry, Merona, Mossimo, Pixi, Threshold and up&up.
