’90s Supermodel Eva Herzigova Just Proved Individuality Is The Biggest Trend In Bridal Style

After 25 years together, Eva Herzigova and her partner businessman Gregorio Marsiaj tied the knot this weekend in Italy at Palazzo Carignano close to where they live in Turin with their three adult sons. The wedding was intimate and incredibly personal, the very antithesis of her splashy Hello! magazine-worthy wedding back in 1996 when she married Bon Jovi drummer Tico Torres (the couple separated two years later). 

The dress the Czech supermodel wore then was a delicate lace slip dress designed by John Galliano which was very much giving a romantic boho vibe. Fast-forward 30 years to her Herzigova’s second wedding where the 53-year-old bride channeled the same dreamy aesthetic, but this time went for vintage couture. Herzigova’s bridal ‘fit, from the archives of Lanvin, was a floaty, ethereal two-piece ensemble featuring a flowing charmeuse midi dress with an alluring plunging neckline paired and a swingy ruffled hemline. She topped the dress with a dramatic matching cape complete with a sculptural high neckline. Herzigova also wore strappy white bow-trimmed sandals, and her beauty look was fresh and natural—minimal makeup and her soft curls casually styled in a tousled updo.

Though she wore and all-white look, Herzigova leaned in to being an untraditional bride choosing a style that was not typical, but most definitely on brand for her. Her choice speaks to the greater trend happening in bridal fashion surrounding individuality and wearing what feels right, not what’s expected. 

British bridal designer Kate Halfpenny of Halfpenny London says Herzigova’s look was perfectly on point for the times, and also a gorgeous choice for a midlife bride who truly knows herself. “[Herzigova’s] gown reads like a woman who has genuinely thought about what she wants, what’s not expected,” Halfpenny shared in an interview with The Telegraph. “She looked truly stunning.”

Halfpenny goes on to praise Herzigova’s style choice as a thoughtful one the bride clearly spent time choosing. “What I see in my boutique is that the midlife bride isn’t dressing for anyone’s approval. She’s had years to work out what suits her and what she loves, so she goes straight for it. You see that in [Herzigova’s] dress: the plunge, the movement, the softness. It’s confident dressing, not cautious.”
