5 Resolutions You Really Need to Make this Year

2015 is just around the corner and with it comes the inevitable slew of predictable New Year's Resolutions that will be made and forgotten within the first four weeks of the year. Forget about those lame, overachieving, hard-to-commit to goals that you set out to achieve only to ultimately fail at and instead check out our list of five concrete changes you can make in your life that are simple and meaningful and will make you want to stick to your resolutions this time.

To Volunteer

Giving back is one of the most significant changes you can make in your life and is one of the best ways to make 2015 an impactful year for you. Look in to volunteer opportunities in your local community that offer up hours you can commit to (whether it be an hour a week or an hour a month) and then do exactly that.

To Stop Dieting

Stop telling yourself you need to be dieting, if you want/need to make a change to your body then resolve to start the process of making a lifelong, lifestyle change, not just a short term fix. Instead resolve to eat more fruits and veggies, to start portioning your meals, or to stop eating fast food.

To Spend More Time With Family

When it all comes down to it, the most important people in your life will always be family (whether or not those you call family are biologically yours). Allot yourself a specific number of hours per week that will be spent with those who are nearest and dearest to you heart. Unconditional love can go a long way for improving your year and your life overall.

To Unplug

Turn off your phone, close your laptop, and shut off the tv. Commit to doing this for 1-2 hours every, single day. Instead spend your time cooking or reading or talking with your partner. We live in such a technologically dependent society these days, sometimes getting back to the basics can not only help us better enjoy our lives but better appreciate them as well.

To Do That One Thing

You know, that one thing. The one thing that you have spent the last year swearing you would do. Quit your job, travel to Africa, demand a raise, or ask out that hottie in your class. Just stop talking about it and get up out of bed and do it already.
