Cool news alert: L’Oré©al Paris has named Maria Borges as its newest beauty ambassador, which is a natural fit for the Victoria’s Secret Angel, Givenchy model, Chanel model, Target model and all-around smart and interesting person, TBH.
“This means the world to me,” Borges said in a statement released earlier this week. “I believe in the beauty of diversity and the empowering message that a girl who started from the bottom can become an international beauty symbol. And be living proof that our dreams are valid and the future ahead of us is bright. Thank you, L’Oré©al Paris, we’re all worth it.”
However, yesterday (March 1), the model dropped a video on Instagram, introducing herself and her new gig, along with the message: “Being part of the L’Oré©al family is a big responsibility, so I’ll do my best to make you guys proud.”
Originally from Angola, Borges was also the first Angel to wear her hair in a natural afro on the red carpet, which Us Weekly reminds continued in 2016 when more models opted out of extensions for their natural hair.
As for L’Oré©al, they’re obviously stoked (and as they should be).
“When her mile-wide smile lights up a runway, Maria inspires others to shine,” said L’Oré©al Paris’s global president, Pierre-Emmanuel Angeloglou. “Helping break barriers, she uses her voice to motivate other women to believe in their beauty: an empowering message that’s core to our beliefs at L’Oré©al Paris. We are honoured to welcome Maria as our new Loré©alista, to inspire more women around the world.”
No news yet on what Maria’s campaigns will entail (or what products, specifically, she’ll be fronting), but consider us stoked about the news.
