When you think of Fashion Week, you tend to think of glitz, glamor and the perfect outfits to wear during the week that celebrates fashion. What most people don’t think about are beloved Disney characters like Minnie Mouse. This year, however, Minnie will be the center of attention.
A group of designers, including Giles Deacon, Richard Nicoll (sketch shown above), Lulu Guinness, Katie Hillier, Michael van der Ham and Meadham Kirchhoff, will each be designing a one-of-a-kind piece inspired by Minnie Mouse. Each designer will be showcasing the piece at London Fashion Week.
Minnie Mouse and her unique style continue to inspire fans across the world, said Marc Low, fashion and home vice president for the Walt Disney Company. We’re thrilled to collaborate with such visionaries to create these one-off designs. Surpassing trends, Minnie Mouse’s iconic silhouette, signature bows and polka dots always remain in style, which is why she is as relevant today as the day she first appeared on the fashion scene. London Fashion Week is the perfect stage for Disney, one of the world’s largest apparel brands, to put a spotlight on Minnie Mouse.
Each of the one-of-a-kind pieces will be auctioned off on eBay for the Fashion Arts Foundation Charity after making their appearances on the catwalk.
Rumour has it that Disney will also be teaming up with some prominent beauty companies in the near future.
Would you sport round ears and polka dots in honour of your favorite mouse?
