Thanks to topping her infamous SNL performance and last night’s quite-more-beautiful Letterman gig, Lana Del Rey’s not going anywhere – especially in the fashion world.
Not only signed to NEXT Model Management (which happened last month), Lana Del Rey is making her Vogue UK cover debut, appearing in March’s issue which will hit newsstands in 14 countries in a few day’s time.
Shot by Mario Testino, Lana Del Rey will be wearing pieces from Louis Vuitton’s Spring/Summer collection which will undoubtedly add to buzz surrounding her. However, despite the controversy, Alexandra Shulman explains in her editor’s letter that she “is many of thousands of people enraptured by the throaty, seductive voice of Lana Del Rey.” She also shared that she “had seen Lana play at a small event in London [and] was convinced that she would be a great Vogue cover girl, even though she is probably one of the newest stars in her field that that the magazine has ever had on the cover.”
She can say that again. But while Lana Del Rey may seem like a brand new musical presence, she actually recorded under the name “Lizzy Grant” in the earlier 2000s. (Is it all coming back yet?) Fast forward a few years, add an updated hairstyle and throw in a better wardrobe, and the Lana Del Rey public force has been completed.
That, and there’s no way to forget “Video Games.”
Lana Del Rey’s Vogue UK cover will hit shelves on Monday, February 6.
