Lady Gaga is finding herself in some legal woes this post-holiday season. Her former personal assistant, Jennifer O’Neill, is suing the pop star for $380,000 in unpaid overtime.
O’Neill, 41, was Gaga’s right-hand woman for 13 months during the Monster Ball tour. The former assistant says she was not granted meal breaks or, at times, even sleep breaks. She also cited that she had to be prepared for spontaneous, random matters in the middle of the night.
Her assistant duties also included handling Gaga’s schedule, money, and her food. O’Neill says she was the one responsible for ensuring the availability of chosen outfits, which certainly cannot be an easy task, given Gaga’s very lavish taste in clothing.
Apparently, this isn’t the first time Mother Monster has had some issues with her assistants. Angela Ciemny, wrote a book about her time as Gaga’s assistant titled Poker Face: The Rise and Rise of Lady Gaga. In the book, she says she was forced to sleep with the singer because Gaga did not want to be alone. She claims they would often do their makeup together, and that they would regularly shower together.
I’m not sure which assistant got the better end of the deal.
While this all could easily be a way for a bent out of shape former employee to get a piece of the Gaga pie, it is also possible that Gaga has taken her role as lead monster a little too seriously.
