The first shots of Shania Twain’s romantic New Year’s Day wedding have been released, and boy does the 45-year-old look gorgeous! She wanted to keep her nuptials private, but posted two photographs of her special day on her website.
The Canadian Country star married businessman, Frederic Thiebaud, 40, on a beach in Puerto Rico. It actually all looks quite perfect, with two palm trees as altars and the ocean providing a picturesque background during sunset. To top it all off, Shania’s 9-year-old son, Eja, reportedly walked her down the aisle.
The simple wedding dress is from a little boutique in Switzerland (which is where Shania apparently lives now… who knew!) and her shoes were a pair of strappy white sandals from Calvin Klien.
After the ceremony, the guests joined the couple back on the beach for a reception, where Shania reportedly treated them to a song.
For those who don’t know, Shania’s relationship with Frederic is actually quite scandalous. Shania was married for fifteen years to Robert “Mutt” Lange. The two split back in 2008 when Lange left Shania for her best friend, Marie-Anne Thiebaud, who also happens to be the former wife of Frederic. It seems that Shania and Frederic bonded over their significant others’ infidelities and their relationship grew into more than just friendship. I guess good can come from a scandalous affair!
Shania announced her engagement to Frederic on her website last month, saying “Frederic Nicolas Thiebaud has been a true gift to me as a compassionate, understanding friend and over time, an amazing love has blossomed from this precious friendship.”
