Jessica Alba Launches Beauty Line

Jessica Alba is expanding The Honest Company by adding a beauty collection. Honest Beauty held a preview for media in New York City last night, and the entire line looks pretty amazing.

Honest Beauty will have 17 skin care products, including cleansers, a facial mist and moisturizers. It will also include 66 makeup products, including foundations, mascaras, lip products and eye shadows. Each of the products are free of parabens, sulfates, mineral oil and synthetic fragrances.

The new range will also be pretty affordable — the most expensive product (a moisturizer) will cost $34 USD.

“My impetus in wanting to launch this line was around diverse beauty and celebrating diversity,” Alba told Fashionista. “I found it very challenging to find the right colors and foundations and I would often mix two or three different ones.”

Alba will also be helping makeup lovers achieve specific beauty looks through tutorials on the Honest Beauty website. Viewers can then shop the looks, which makes choosing the right products a little easier.

However, things haven’t been so peachy for Alba and The Honest Company this summer. Reports in the last few months saw users of the brand’s sunscreen extremely unhappy, as they took to social media to show the burns (some even on children) that they endured while wearing the product. The company is now facing a $5 million class action lawsuit because of the sunscreen, and to address their labeling of products with synthetic ingredients as natural.

Still, last month, The Honest Company was able to raise $100 million in funding, giving it a reported value of $1.7 billion.
