How often should you wash your face?
Skincare professional and scientist Linda Stephenson, who is the owner and founder of the Mereadesso (a skincare product line), says you should be cleansing your face twice a day.
Stephenson is seriously savvy about skincare. Before she self-started the Mereadesso skin care company, she lended her expertise to major skincare and beauty companies for over 25 years.
According to her, a good skincare routine consists of washing your facial area in the morning before you start your day and in the evening when you take off your makeup. “Most people wash their faces in the evening, when they are taking off their makeup off and getting ready for bed. But I also believe that you should wash your face just in the same way, in the morning,” she advises.
She says that cleaning your face in the morning is a must because it gets rid of a lot of unhealthy stuff lying beneath the surface. “During the night, when your body is at rest, your body is actually really de-toxifying, and is trying to get rid of the toxins and various stresses during the day,” she says.
The toxins come out of your pores as surface oils, which you need to wash away after rising. “You want to get rid of that (toxins) so you can have a clean palette for a fresh face for the start of your day,” she says.
