Beauty Panel Review: Sally Hansen Gel Shine 3D Top Coat

What is under $15, ultra glossy and life-changing? Sally Hansen’s new Gel Shine 3D Top Coat, of course! Or at least that is what they told us. We asked four of our beauty experts (including me!) to put Sally Hansen’s claims to the test and give the new top coat a spin.

The Gel Shine 3D Top Coat is said to dry in just seconds with no light needed. It is formulated with an exclusive Vinyl & Gel Tech Complex that gives any nail polish a gel-like manicure finish, leaving nails plump and brilliant. Plus, it removes with your regular nail polish remover. Too good to be true? Read on and see what our experts think (and to find out how you can win your own!).

sh-saraMy nails grow so fast and sometimes it is hard to justify the price tag of a gel manicure when it grows out in just a few days. The problem is, I love the look of gel nails. Especially the shine and durability. That’s why I was so interested to try Sally Hansen’s Gel Shine 3D Top Coat.

After applying my favourite Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure polish in Back to the Fuschia, I painted on the new top coat and immediately I noticed how it plumped my nails and added an undeniable glossy finish. The best part? The quick dry time! Which was fantastic as I was painting my nails at my desk. Within minutes after applying I was digging around my purse to find my phone and there was no mess or chips at all. This top coat has saved me time, money and the hassle of a lamp. I would definitely recommend it to all my boss girls on the go!

sh-elaineWith the warm weather finally here I’m giving up my beloved neutral tips for something a little more vibrant and happy! Normally I would take the time to head out for a shellac manicure since I love the ultra-glossy shine of a professional gel mani “ especially when using bright colours. Life has been hectic these days and I haven’t had a chance to make a salon appointment, so I reached for the Sally Hansen Gel Shine 3D Top Coat, to use over my Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure polish in Back to the Fuschia, to see if it would give my manicure the gel look that I wanted. I absolutely loved the effect it gave my nails “ the high gloss shine made my tips stand out full with drama. I was very impressed at the look I had achieved on my own!

The best part? Unlike shellac manicures the polish and top coat removes instantly with any nail polish remover. Which is a blessing if you’re like me and can’t seem to EVER get your at home mani quite right the first time.

sh-staceyAs someone who doesn’t paint their nails very often I was excited to try the Sally Hansen Gel Shine 3D Top Coat because I am constantly changing my polish in the salon and I love gel polish. When I used this for the first time I made quite a mess due to its thick nature. After a little bit of practice I got the hang of it and love the results. It is completely 3D looking, like I just stepped out from a fresh polish change. The best part is it comes without the damage to my nails or the price tag. I love that this product means I can change up my polish (now wearing: Sally Hansen Insta Dri Nail Color in Petal Pusher) whenever I want and comes off easily with regular polish remover. I would definitely suggest giving it a try for yourself.

sh-baharAt the end of the day, I may adore the idea of a gel mani, but I absolutely love the *look* of a shiny gel mani. Seriously though, I just don’t have the time to go and get them done. Thanks to Sally Hansen’s Gel Shine 3D Top Coat, I’m living the nail-life with glossy tips and all without having to venture outside my door. Thanks to the broad brush, it’s almost a single stroke application and the plumping vinyl complex adds volume which makes my nails (painted with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Nail Color in Petal Pusher and Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Hello Pretty) look as if I’m sporting a gel mani and, in reality, it’s all an illusion. A glossy, shiny, 3D, perfect-looking manicure illusion.

My daughter paints her nails at least once a day. This is her favorite thing to do! She has a gel light but it takes “so long” to dry. With her constantly on the go this product will be a perfect addition to her collection of nail products!

I rarely apply nail polish to my nails because I always manage to ruin it within minutes. 🙁 I would love to try Sally Hansen’s new Gel Shine 3D Top Coat to see if its quick-dry, long-wear features might change the way I feel about nail polish and open up a new realm of “beautydom” for me. 🙂
