Beauty Bulletin: Toronto Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2019, Day 3

It’s official, Toronto Fashion Week X RE\SET is back in action from February 5 to 7. In between the power walk to and from the ROM, the Gardiner Museum and the parking garage in Toronto’s Yorkville Village, you can find us hanging out backstage in the oval with makeup lead Simone Otis, Award Winning P1M Makeup Artist and beautyBOUTIQUE by Shoppers Drug Mart Spokesperson, to give you daily recaps of our favourite beauty looks. Here are our fave looks from the final day, day 3.

HILARY MACMILLAN:
Naturally Defined

With Hilary Macmillan’s latest collection consisting of corduroy and satin fabrics, co-ord sets in various prints of colourful plaid and super shiny faux patent leather coats,  it makes sense why Otis wanted to go for a clean and natural look. After foundation and concealer, she lightly applied a bit of contour on the cheeks, one coat of Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real! Mascara ($33) and groomed brows to create a believable full brow. The secret to dewy skin? Applying a creamy highlighter to the highpoints of cheeks and to the inner eye.

Products used:
RMS Living Luminizer ($47.50), Clarins Lip Comfort Oil ($25)

MANI JASSAL:
White Eyeliner

To let the peach and soft warm tones tell the story of Mani Jassal’s romantic collection, Otis and Jassal decided to go with a very delicate, yet bold, white eyeliner look. “This time, she wanted to go with something pretty —she usually wants something colourful with black eyeliner. But she loves makeup, so we had to come up with something special,” explains Otis. To create the look, Otis used a liquid matte white eyeliner to create the negative space effect and then applied mascara to the top and bottom lashes. For that extra wow factor, she then applied false lashes. Sticking with the peach theme, she applied Stila’s Convertible Color Lip & Cheek Cream ($33) in Poppy to the cheeks and created a custom peach lip.

Products used:
Dior On Stage Liquid Eyeliner in Matte White ($35), Quo Lashes in Flirty 804 ($9), NARS Blush in Sin/Casino ($38), The Brow Gal Pencils, Shiseido Lipstick ($35) RD 124 and Peep Show 505, Urban Decay Highlighter in Sin ($34)

NARCES:
1960’s Sophia Loren

Narces Designer and Creative Director Nikki Wirthensohn Yassemi had a specific beauty look in mind for her show. Inspired by the iconic photo of Sophia Loren in a green wig, Nikki wanted her cast of models rocking Loren’s same eccentric eye look. “We’re going to exaggerate the liner and do top lashes and bottom lashes. It’s definitely not a shy look,” Otis explains. To draw an exaggerated line, Otis recommends extending and lifting the outer corners of the eye. Following the eyes, Otis focused on perfecting the skin by lightly powdering the T-zone and finished the look with a custom nude by blending  Shiseido VisionAiry Lipsticks.

Products used:
The Brow Gal Pencils, Smashbox Always On Liquid Eyeliner in Black ($28), Quo Lashes in 815, RMS Living Luminizer ($47.50)
