We all know that a red or pink lip is essential for a hot date, but finding the exact shade of red or pink that looks best on you can be stressful. To make your trip to the makeup counter full of fun instead of panic, we spoke with Gillian Okopny, NARS National Lead Artist, on how to choose the perfect pink and red lipstick shade just for you. With these six lipstick commandments, we promise you’ll have a full red and pink lipstick wardrobe rotation in no time!
Tip #1: Take your entire makeup look into account
Generally, when choosing any lip colour, I will take into consideration the overall look that I am trying to achieve. If the client or model has a bolder eye look, I will choose something subtler for the lip. If the eye is more natural, I may go for something like a bold red or deep purple.
