5 Spring Beauty Trends We Love

Spring is still a few weeks away but there’s no reason not to start rocking the upcoming season’s hottest beauty trends right now.

Find out which hot spring/summer 2014 trends you should start experimenting with today!

Bright Orange Lips

Bolds and brights have had their fair share of play on the runway but this season, designers like Christian Siriano and Donna Karan let us know that orange is hotter than ever. Orange can brighten your entire complexion and give your skin the glow its been lacking this winter. So don’t wait till spring to start rocking this look. To nail this spring beauty trend, opt for a bright shade of orange with an opaque, matte finish. Keep the rest of your makeup muted (barely-there, really) and let that flashy pout stand out.

Golden Lids

Metallics come in and out so often, we can hardly tell when it’s ok to wear them or not. But this spring, there is no question. Metallic golden lids are most definitely in. Because metallic gold eyeshadow can really illuminate your gaze, we say you start wearing it right now. Just be sure to limit the metallic hue to your lower lids only. Applying a metallic shade to your crease and brow bone as well is just too much. Choose a darker shade of gold for a look that’s classy, elegant, and spring 2014-ready.

Flawless Complexion

This one sounds crazy – who doesn’t want a flawless complexion, right? To be more precise, this trend is about illuminating your cheekbones. Allow the light to reflect off your cheekbones and give your skin a smooth, subtle, radiant glow. A touch of shimmering illuminator can take your tired, pale complexion and pump some life into it. So start looking for the right illuminator for you to give your skin the kick-start it needs for a radiant finish. Remember, to ace this trend, keep your illuminator to key areas rather than all over the face. It should just complement your natural glow, not overpower it.

Blue Eyeliner

Francois Nars says teal or royal blue eyeliner is hot for spring 2014. And basically, what he says, we are only inclined to agree with. He says the upcoming season will place a major emphasis on eye makeup so naturally, to be ahead of the trends, we recommend getting started today. Start looking for the shade of blue that brings out your eye colour best. Apply it to the lower lash line or the upper lash line, extending past the outer corner of the eye for a very slight cat-eye effect.

The Crown Braid

The braid has been everywhere from the runway to the red carpet in recent years. This year, while definitely different, the braid is still a hot topic. Instead of the traditional look, models on the spring 2014 runways showed off a crown braid. Take your traditional braid and wrap it around the crown of your head, securing with bobby pins. We are all for getting on this look right now for two reasons: one, it’s hot, and two, it’s a great way to conceal a bad hair day. Double-duty looks like this are always our faves.
