3 Beauty Trends at Toronto Fashion Week for Fall/Winter 2015

While the clothes were no doubt the focus for some at Toronto World MasterCard Fashion Week, for others, all eyes were on beauty. When it comes to fall/winter shows, beauty mavens usually expect dark, moody hues (which we did”it is fall, after all), but this week brought something a little bit more. Here’s our roundup of the three top beauty trends we spotted this week.

Neutral Canvases

From minimal foundation to soft neutral nail tones, we saw fun and fresh takes on neutrals this week. At Mikhael Kale, Essie Canada’s lead nail artist, Rita Remark, imagined a soft neutral marbled nail. When it came to makeup, Grace Lee, lead makeup artist for Maybelline New York Canada came armed with lightweight products like Maybelline New York Face Studio Master Prime to illuminate natural skin without covering it up. Almost every show we saw this week, Pink Tartan in particular, had almost-bare skin with an iridescent glow in all the right places. Even the eyes for Rudsak were in the same vein, inspired by Pantone’s colour of the year, marsala, for a bit more pop.

Graphic Lines

The eye game was seriously strong this week. Between Farley Chatto, Mikhael Kale, Sid Neigum and Kania, almost everyone was rocking that bold, graphic line. Both Kania and Mikhael Kale went for a more wearable winged liner look, but others like Sid Neigum went for something a bit more creative with thick lines and cut-sections. For nails, even though At Pink Tartan, even though nails were minimal with a matte coat over top of bare nails, with small black designs that complemented the graphic trend this week.

Lots of Colour

It was a trifecta of colour at Hayler Elsaesser for hair, makeup and nails and it made the week a little bit brighter for onlookers on day three. Both Grace Lee and Rita Remark made sure to follow Hayley’s vision for all things bright and vibrant, Grace bringing in bright pink lips and alternating models with orange and green eye accents and Rita alternating pink and blue and orange and teal printed tips. Even at Mackage, the nails were a graphic half moon-inspired oxblood red mani with a graphic-colour duo on the eyes (hello, teal) and at Kania, lips were a bright, classic red.
