Leggings and tights are one of the top fashion items this Winter, and they are available in a multitude of colours, designs and patterns.
Leggings are typically made from a blend of Spandex, lycra, nylon, cotton, polyester blend, wool or even silk. Some of these materials require special care.
Make your leggings last longer by learning these 10 simple tips.
1. Moisturize:
Proper care for leggings starts with moisturizing your hands, legs and feet to prevent snagging them on rough, dry skin. Also keep your fingernails and toenails filed.
2. Put leggings on correctly:
Gather each leg around your ankles. Smooth them gently up your leg with no jerking. Work from the front to the back of your leg. Remove them with the same care. This will help make your leggings last longer and the patterns won’t get crooked.
3. Wash tights properly:
It’s best to wash leggings by hand. If you’re going to use a washing machine, put your leggings in a mesh bag and use the gentle cycle. Use cold water in any case. Leggings may also last longer if you wash them before the first wearing and immediately after wearing them.
4. Buy control top styles:
Even if you don’t need any artificial control, these styles have greater strength and durability.
5. Buy the right size:
You won’t have to tug so much if the leggings are a little roomy to begin with.
