Food court? I know what you are thinking. But, hear me out. There are a lot of benefits to bringing bae to the mall for a date. This week I had the opportunity to bring my guy to Scarborough Town Centre’s TASTE MRKT grand opening. Really, I just had to say food and shopping and he was ready in the car.
The TASTE MRKT boasts a diverse selection of restaurants with cuisines that span worldwide. Perfect timing as we’re all in the multicultural spirit of the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio. So how does this qualify as the perfect date? Well, like most couples we spend at least an hour or more every night deciding what to eat for dinner. I’m craving pasta and he’s craving a burger, or I’m craving sushi and he’s craving a salad. One person always has to cave to the other’s preference. With TASTE MRKT we pretty much had a selection of whatever we wanted, I could get my butter chicken and samosas from Biryani and he could get his spicy chicken and veggies from Bourbon St. Grill. It was literally the first occasion we spent zero time negotiating dinner. And boy, was it awesome (the butter chicken and the fact that we could just relax and eat what we wanted!).
The bonus? Both of us are big on shopping, and with all our favourite stops, from Zara to Topshop, we could spend the rest of the afternoon stocking our fall wardrobes. All in all, it was a major win!
If you are headed to Scarborough Town Centre and have time to drop by the new TASTE MRKT before August 21, 2016, be sure to check out the floor art installation by artist Dani Roche of Kastor & Pollux featuring 14 countries and languages represented in the food court. If you follow @shopSTC on Instagram and take a photo with your favourite floor decal using the hashtag #TASTEMRKT you could win a $500 mall gift card.
