This episode originally aired on November 21, 2006 on The CW

Rory goes home to Stars Hollow to have dinner with her parents, where it is revealed that they eloped while in Paris. Rory pretends to be happy but later reveals her anger to Lorelai. Logan comes back to town for a launch party, which Rory attends and about which she later writes a judgmental article. Due to accusations by Logan, Rory plans to find a new apartment. Meanwhile, Luke turns to Lorelai in a time of medical emergency with April.

The eighth episode, “Introducing Lorelai Planetarium,” brings forth a range of emotions and reveals underlying tensions among the characters. Lorelai and Christopher, now married, return to Stars Hollow with their significant news, creating a ripple effect through their close-knit community. While some embrace the news with open arms, others, notably Luke, manage their shock and disappointment silently.

In Yale, Rory is struggling with the pressures and responsibilities of running the Yale Daily News, particularly dealing with the managerial conundrums posed by Paris. Logan, her now steady boyfriend, tries to balance being supportive while also attending to his own emerging career and business trips, navigating through the complexity of a mature relationship.

Meanwhile, the relationship dynamics between Emily and Richard take center stage, illustrating the strain brought upon by the latter’s teaching career and the former’s feeling of neglect. When Richard’s former flame, Pennilyn Lott, becomes a frequent topic, it stirs insecurity and tension between the Gilmores.

The episode subtly intertwines personal conflicts with pivotal life decisions. Lorelai, despite her fresh marital status, can’t shake off the remnants of her past relationship with Luke. This is subtly echoed in Rory’s own life, as her passionate involvement in the Yale Daily News leaves her juggling her commitment to Logan. Emily’s quest to safeguard her marriage with Richard illustrates a familiar vulnerability, contrasting with her usual poised demeanor.
