Set in the future and based on the bestselling novel by Veronica Roth, Divergent stars Shailene Woodley, Kate Winslet and Theo James whose characters live in a post-apocalyptic world where the population is divided into groups based on personality. The cast of this movie will be decked out in severe looks, nude make-up, monochromatic colors, minimalist silhouettes and a myriad fake tattoos; the later likely sparking a resurgence of peel on body art.

Ladies missing the good old days of Sex & the City can look forward to The Other Woman, the latest chick flick coming to a theatre near you in April. This funny modern-day movie stars Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann and Kate Upton whose characters join forces to get revenge on the man they’ve all been seeing. Get ready for fun, stylish outfits that hug the body, bright colors and brand name pieces because revenge is best served when you’re wearing designer heels.

Downtown Abbey fans get ready to step back in time to the late 1700s England for the setting of Belle. The movie made its world premiere at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival receiving positive audience reactions. However, it’s not just the superb acting and storyline that has us hooked, we’re dying over the elaborate fashions of the past; princess-style gowns, detailed embroidery and ornate jewels. The only thing that stops us from wanting to jump into one of these pieces is the thought of wearing corsets. Ouch!

Bad girls have all the fun and seeing Angelina Jolie made-up as Maleficent, the evil sorceress from the fairytale Sleeping Beauty, has us on the edge of our seats! The visionary family duo is back with another original, sci-fi movie called Jupiter Ascending which stars Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum. Head costume designer Kym Barett, who outfitted the cast for all the Matrix movies and introduced the world to latex body suits and frameless sunglasses, will give your eyes a futuristic fashion feast with this new film. We can’t wait to see what ground-breaking looks she’ll have the cast of Jupiter Ascending donning when the movie comes out this summer.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1

In fall 2014, the next installment of The Hunger Games will drop and we’re anxiously anticipating what fashions Katness Everdeen, Effie Trinket and the entire Mockingjay crew will wear. Head costume designer Trish Summerville showed us Capitol couture in the previous movie Catching Fire, from designers such as Alexander McQueen and Iris van Herpen. And as the plot thickens for this next instalment of The Hunger Games it’s guaranteed that the clothing and make-up will be even more dramatic and lethal.

Coming to theatres sometime this year is the highly acclaimed Yves Saint Laurent bio pic, a fashion movie in the truest sense. Released this past January in France, fashion fanatics all over the world are biting their well-manicured nails for world-wide release dates for this film to be announced. The life and times of the brilliant, yet troubled designer, has been subject to the big screen in the past but what differentiates this film from the rest is the acting skills of its cast, backing from the designer’s business partner and friend Pierre Bergé© and, of course, the 77 vintage outfits loaned for production from the Saint Laurent archives – each came with its own handler.
