Tips to Keep Your Life Running Smoothly

Ever feel like your life is running you instead of the opposite being true? It just may be the case. It’s easy to get bogged down and feel overwhelmed but there are steps you can take to keep your life running relatively smoothly¦at least in the areas you can control.

1) Be proactive:
Get ahead of things as much as you can. Work and other commitments can pull you in various directions at any point, so when you have some free time, think about what you can get off your plate and do it before you are eye-to-eye with a deadline you are struggling to meet.

2) Make a to-do list:
This is mostly about staying organized and on top of things. A to-do list keeps you on track. It doesn’t need to be complicated, just a running list of items you need to keep on your horizon is the point. To keep it effective, make sure it’s up-to-date and refer to it daily if you need to. Added bonus¦it’s sure satisfying crossing stuff off as you go along.

3) Pay your bills on time:
Sounds obvious but not everyone does it. Keep track of your bills and their due dates “ it’s the same time every month – and get into the routine of paying them on time to keep your life running smoothly and hassle free in this department.

4) File:
Develop a system that works for you¦there’s a plethora of options out there, but bottom line, get into the routine of filing. This keeps you sane around tax time. The point is, your system should be a one-stop shop for all things you think you might need in the near future and long-term.

5) Simplify:
Before you decide to make a purchase, keep something instead of tossing it or putting it aside for another day, ask yourself if you really need the item. The more ˜stuff’ we tend to have, the more complicated and busy lives get. So, if you don’t need it or it won’t be missed if it’s tossed, get rid of it.
