With every relationship there is give and take as you get to know each other, and both of you will undoubtedly make mistakes that you will laugh about later on. However, there are some gaffes that are almost guaranteed to ruin your relationship and send your guy running.
Try your best to avoid the following:
Trying to change your man
He is who he is, and no amount of sweet-talking, nagging, or bribery is going to change him. If he has been hunting and fishing with his friends since he was 12, he will probably never become vegetarian. Accept the fundamental things about your man “ it’s why you first fell in love with him, after all.
Being insecure
Constantly putting yourself down and fishing for compliments and reassurance will either (a) make him start believing all the negative things you’re saying about yourself or (b) make him really tired of having to cater to your neediness.
Showing excessive emotion
Nobody likes a drama queen. If everything he does makes your cry, scream, break down or storm off in a huff, you will quickly find yourself without an audience.
Becoming possessive
We’re all individuals and need to be treated as such. You wouldn’t want him following you around, wanting to know where you are every minute, who you’re with and what you’re doing. Show him the same respect (and trust).
Calling or texting relentlessly
See above. Give your guy a break. Your neediness and controlling behavior will alienate him and break your bond.
Asking about his exes
Live in the moment. He’s with you because it didn’t work out with the others. Maybe he was dumped, maybe he did the dumping and feels badly about the way he did it, maybe he caught her cheating.
Don’t make him relive it by probing. You don’t need to know anything about his exes “ only that you are a far better choice.
Bringing up your exes
Refrain from referring “ or worse yet, comparing him “ to your past loves. Nothing good will ever come of it.
Showing up uninvited
Don’t just drop by at his workplace, or over his friends’ or family’s house unless he explicitly invites you. From a man, this behavior would be called stalking.
Using silly nicknames or baby talk
What’s fun in the bedroom is not always fine out on the street. Use your discretion and don’t embarrass him in public.
Talking marriage
You haven’t even been on your third date and already you’re debating the merits of princess versus cushion cut. This is one of the fastest ways to scare him straight out of your arms.

Men need to think about the signals they throw off. If a guy says he wants to marry me and then stalls, BYE! I’m too old for men’s games.
